Day 27: And now for today’s (optional) prompt. Following Lauren Hunter’s practice of relying on tarot cards to generate ideas for poems, we challenge you to pick a card (any card) from this online guide to the tarot, and then to write a poem inspired either by the card or by the images or ideas that are associated with it.

The Magician!

The Magician has come thy way,
With the crossed nimbus,
Symbolising he is a  holy spirit,
His right hand holds the wand of mystic,
Pointing towards the sky,

27TH APRIL’18 – A TO Z CHALLENGE – LETTER ‘X’

Published 27th April 2018 by viewsofpreethib

27th April’18 – Letter ‘X’

The word I choose for the letter ‘X’ is Xenomania.

I could not find any quote for this word, so decided to mention the meaning of the word Xenomania  is- “xenomania (uncountable) : A strong preference/ an intense enthusiasm or fondness for anything or anyone foreign like customs, manners, or institutions; the gaining of pleasure from meeting strangers or visiting foreign countries.”

Everyone of you can surely relate to this feeling, we all have been though this intense feeling of like towards foreign cultures, dress, religions, or could be towards foreign land or people. There is always some kind of a strange attraction or a liking towards the unknown or new. Me being a South-Indian let me list out my favorite things that I like which is foreign to me.

Day 26- NaPoWriMo’18 – Art Of Cooking!

Published 27th April 2018 by viewsofpreethib

Day 26: And now for our prompt (optional as always). Taking our cue from today’s craft resource, we’d like to challenge you to write a poem that includes images that engage all five senses. Try to be as concrete and exact as possible with the “feel” of what the poem invites the reader to see, smell, touch, taste and hear.

I love food, since I am a foodie and the prompt was to write a poem on five senses, I just could not think of anything else but food. 😉 😛 I chose to write on this sweet dish as it holds some sweet memories too not only because it is sooooo yuummmmiiiieee. 😉 😛 . Hope you like the poem and the sweet dish. 😉

Art Of Cooking!

Cooking is an art,
To master, Its not an easy task,
It begins with eyes ends with ear.

26TH APRIL’18 – A TO Z CHALLENGE – LETTER ‘W’

Published 26th April 2018 by viewsofpreethib

26th April’18 – Letter ‘W’

The word I choose for the letter ‘W’ is Witty.

The quote I choose to go with the word Witty is- “A Witty quote proves nothing.”

A witty quote might not be able to prove anything at all but it might make a person laugh, it might come to your help in-case you are trying to impress someone, 😉 it might bring someone close to you, it might be a perfect response to shut someone’s mouth for their attitude problem. There are two types of witty where one is a funny non harmful statement whereas the type two witty statements are the criticizing, finding flaws in a person. Yes, there is a good side and a bad side of being witty.

Day 24- NaPoWriMo’18 – An Elegy, But With A Hope!

Published 25th April 2018 by viewsofpreethib

Day 24: And now for our prompt (optional, as always). Today, we’d like to challenge you to write an elegy – a poem typically written in honor or memory of someone dead. But we’d like to challenge you to write an elegy that has a hopefulness to it. Need inspiration? You might look at W.H. Auden’s elegy for Yeats, which ends on a note suggesting that the great poet’s work will live on, inspiring others in years to come. Or perhaps this elegy by Mary Jo Bang, where the sadness is shot through with a sense of forgiveness on both sides.

I am not sure if I have done justice for today’s prompt but this is what I could write about “Elegy with hopefulness”.

An Elegy, But With A Hope!

How do I write an Elegy,
A hopeful one,
When my heart is edgy,
Of memories I have none.

Memories of your pamper and love,
When you were alive,
Neither side of grandparents,
Were attached with sentiments.

24TH APRIL’18 – A TO Z CHALLENGE – LETTER ‘U’

Published 24th April 2018 by viewsofpreethib

24th April’18 – Letter ‘U’

The word I choose for the letter ‘U’ is Ugly.

The quote I choose to go with the word Ugly is- “UGLY isn’t a way to describe someone’s looks, it’s a way to describe someone’s personality.”

Unfortunately according to most of the people beauty is measured in terms of physical appearance, you are beautiful only if you are fair, tall with zero-size figure, sharp features and you get brownie points in-case you wear branded cloths and accessories. The rest of them who are dusky, fat, too thin, short etc are all labelled as UGLY.

Day 23- NaPoWriMo’18 – Sounds Can Make You Smile Or Go Wild!

Published 23rd April 2018 by viewsofpreethib

Day 23: And now for today’s (optional) prompt! Kate Greenstreet’s poetry is spare, but gives a very palpable sense of being spoken aloud – it reads like spoken language sounds. In our interview with her, she underscores this, stating that “when you hear it, you write it down.” Today, we challenge you to honor this idea with a poem based in sound. The poem, for example, could incorporate overheard language. Perhaps it could incorporate a song lyric in some way, or language from something often heard spoken aloud (a prayer, a pledge, the Girl Scout motto). Or you could use a regional or local phrase from your hometown that you don’t hear elsewhere, e.g. “that boy won’t amount to a pinch.”

Sounds Can Make You Smile Or Go Wild!

There are sounds that can make you smile,
There are sounds that can make you go wild,
Let me list out a few that makes me smile,
And a few that makes me go wild,
We all have a list of few hates and favourite,
Here is my list of both the sound.

23rd APRIL’18 – A TO Z CHALLENGE – LETTER ‘T’

Published 23rd April 2018 by viewsofpreethib

23rd April’18 – Letter ‘T’

The word I choose for the letter ‘T’ is Tickle.

The quote I choose to go with the word Tickle is: “If you tickle me, I’m not responsible for your injuries.”

Can anyone tell me why do one laughs while they are being tickled when it is actually a torture one goes through which makes that person weak and helpless. Does the word tickle scares you? It definitely scare me if I am the victim. 😛 But it brings great joy to the person who is tickling. 😉 😛
