Participation Requirements

All participants must be registered and accepted to attend the Designathon. Teams must consist of 3-4 members. You must be a current college student in the U.S. to participate.

Presentation & Prize Eligibility

In-Person Attendance is required. Winners must attend the Award Ceremony in person to claim their prize. If no team members are present, the prize will be forfeited. 

Project & Submission Rules

Teams must submit their design work by 12:30 PM on Nov 9, Sunday to be eligible for judging. All design work must be completed during the Designathon – if work builds upon pre-existing concepts or designs, this must be disclosed to judges. Projects must adhere to ethical guidelines and not violate any intellectual property rights.

Event Conduct

All participants must follow the event's Code of Conduct and maintain a respectful and collaborative environment. Any form of cheating, plagiarism, or inappropriate behavior may result in disqualification.

Our designathon is hosted in a shared space. Participants are expected to respect the location, clean up after themselves, and ensure that their activities do not disrupt other users of the space.

UX Club, as a registered NYU student organization, is responsible for organizing this event and is protected as such. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or responsible for any external groups or organizations outside of NYU.

All participants must leave the premises by 6:30 PM each day. 

Our designathon is dedicated to providing a safe, comfortable, and harassment-free environment for everyone, regardless of:

  • Gender

  • Gender identity and expression

  • Age

  • Sexual orientation

  • Disability

  • Physical appearance

  • Body size

  • Race

  • Ethnicity

  • Nationality

  • Religion

  • Political views

  • Previous designathon attendance

  • Design experience or lack thereof

  • Chosen design tools or methods

Harassment of participants in any form will not be tolerated. Sexual language and imagery are prohibited at all venues, including:

  • Design projects

  • Talks, presentations, or demos

  • Workshops

  • Associated parties

  • Social media or online media

Participants violating these rules may face sanctions or expulsion at the discretion of the designathon organizers.
