Based in Indianapolis, USA Gymnastics (USAG) is the national governing body for gymnastics in the United States, overseeing six disciplines: acrobatic, artistic, gymnastics for all, parkour, rhythmic, and trampoline and tumbling.
Established by the Ted Stevens Amateur Sports Act of 1978, USA Gymnastics is the only organization recognized by the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee and the International Gymnastics Federation. This means USAG is solely responsible for overseeing the sport from grass roots through elite, including the U.S. teams for the Olympic Games, World Championships, and other top-tier international events.

We are uniquely responsible for:
Although established by federal law, USA Gymnastics receives no governmental funding to help support its programs and mission. As a not-for-profit 501-3C, our programs are funded through a wide range of revenue sources, including membership, sponsorships, USOPC High Performance Funding, advertising and creative content, event ticket sales and registrations, grants and donations, and merchandise sales. Revenue is reinvested into supporting the clubs, coaches, athletes, events and safety programs that sustain the thriving ecosystem of our sport. Our strong volunteer community, alongside national staff, ensures the highest quality experience for members and athletes nationwide.
