SERVICE LEARNING

“Reflect that in reality you have a greater need to serve than they have of your service. Beware of trying to accomplish anything by force. Strive to be faithful to that which God has called you.” – Saint Angela Merici

 Service Learning

Ursuline High School empowers students to become servant leaders who bring hope to the world.  Our service learning program goes beyond simply logging volunteer hours. It focuses on building empathy, understanding social justice, and developing a servant’s heart.

Through service learning, students directly address critical community needs while building genuine relationships with the individuals they serve. By confronting the realities of poverty, inequality, and hardship, students are pushed out of their comfort zones to gain a deeper understanding of the world and their place within it.

In addition to numerous local service opportunities, juniors and seniors have the opportunity to participate in a Mission Trip.  Past trips have included work in Mexico, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, Appalachia, and Florida.  The next trip is planned for Easter Break 2026.

Students are required to complete 5-10 service hours per year, based on grade level.  Students often will obtain additional service hours by joining one of Ursuline’s two service organizations, Students of Stewardship and Interact.  Many students also complete independent volunteer work with organizations.
