Background
Interview with Paul Dostal, Occupational Safety Coordinator at Pace Processing.
Based in British Columbia, Canada, Pace Processing is a multi-category food processor, serving retail and food service industries across North America. With over 18 years in the frozen food industry, the company provides innovative solutions for products based on the latest market demands from customers.
Observing double-digit year-over-year growth rates, the company produces a range of frozen foods for the North American retail and food service industries, including cakes, baked goods, pizzas, pizza toppings, gluten-free toppings, and other baked goods.
The company maintains six production plants with close to 97,000 square feet of space.
Pace Processing started using uQualio for HSC & technical training in 2020 and has been increasingly using uQualio over time.
The Challenge
The company’s old technical training system was expensive and not very user-friendly, making it hard to get people to engage in their training. Their staff even felt that the traditional training was a waste of time. To overcome this issue, Pace Processing started looking for a better option.
The Solution
Pace Processing uses the uQualio video training platform as a continuous educational platform for training staff online. Since the company has a lot of complicated machines, requiring special knowledge to operate and maintain, it makes in-house ‘how to’ videos and creates courses using uQualio. The Courses are added with a QR code on the individual product equipment to enable staff to find the relevant courses about the set-up, maintenance, safety, and cleaning of the manufacturing machine. So, the company uses the video creation and distribution platform to distribute courses with QR codes for easy reference, making courses available 24/7 as just-in-time training while monitoring staff compliance and compiling data.
The closed captions feature helps the company effectively train staff members who have hearing issues or speak other languages.
Another big plus for the company is that as the standard operating procedures (SOPs) are shown as video and with additional documents added to the course, they can document compliance to the authorities.
The Result
The uQualio video eLearning platform is a game changer for the company. Their staff started using uQualio in 2022 for video-based technical training, and since then they have been talking about the new things they learned.
What Does Pace Processing Think about uQualio?
According to Paul, uQualio has the best mix of built-in features, ease of use, and price. Paul says that uQualio is fun and easy to use, and it offers great support with excellent feedback time. He finds the technical training platform very intuitive and likes its many useful features and integrations like Stripe for eCommerce and AI-text-to-video-avatar integrations so you can create AI-rendered videos for your courses.
