Also, it is known for its contributions to baseball, including being the birthplace of baseball legend Eddie Murphy and the original home of a mill operated by Hillerich & Bradsby Co., which supplied bats to famous baseball players. Hancock, NY is also known as the Bluestone Capitol of the World and has a rich legacy of quarrying the sought-after building material for nearly 200 years.
