WHAT ARE YOU WITHHOLDING?

WHAT ARE YOU WITHHOLDING?

LORD I SURRENDER ALL TO YOU!

LORD I SURRENDER ALL TO YOU!

When we enter into a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ it is not a stagnant one shot deal.

It is the beginning of a life long journey that incorporates an ever evolving transformational process of our becoming more like Him and fulfilling God’s divine purposes for our lives.

As we move ahead in this process, every now and again the Lord requires that we surrender some aspect of ourselves or our lives to Him in order for us to progress to another level.

At times this is easy.

At times it is hard.

At times it is very hard.

Are you at one of those junctions in your walk with the Lord where He is requiring that you surrender some aspect of yourself or your life to Him?

If so, what are you withholding?

What is it that you know the Lord is speaking to you about surrendering to Him?

Even as I ask this question, conviction is gripping you because you know He is speaking to you once again through this post and asking you to give it to Him, whatever your it may be.

Yes it feels badly to your flesh, yes you do not know what will happen, yes others may see you as a fool, yes some persons may get upset, angry and hurt, yes you may experience a loss, yes you may go through a difficult time, yes the thought of it terrifies you, but don’t just focus on these potential negative realities, consider also what will happen if you don’t surrender that person, place thing or situation, that it to the Lord.

What will that cost you relative to your walk and relationship with Him?

Are you willing to pay that price?

Are you willing to give up the good that the Lord has in store for you, the benefits He desires to release to you as a result of your obedience, as a result of you withholding nothing?

SELAH! – Pause and think about that.

Whether a relationship, friendship, spouse, child, family member, situation at work, business, plan, career, position, habit, attitude, desire, gift, talent, ability, time, money, material possession, whatever it is, today the Lord desires you to surrender it to Him withholding nothing.

Will you do it?

Will you take that step and surrender it to him withholding nothing?

As you decide, be blessed as William McDowell ministers in song, “Withholding Nothing”.

“WITHHOLDING NOTHING” – WILLIAM MCDOWELL

I pray that this is the day of decision for you.

If it is, know that after surrendering it, even if the path ahead is not smooth, if you look through the eyes of the Spirit, you will see and be able to glean many blessings and experience great spiritual transformation along the way, and that the end the Lord has purposed for you is good.

“Then Jesus said to the disciples, “If anyone wants to be a follower of mine, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For anyone who keeps his life for himself shall lose it; and anyone who loses his life for me shall find it again.”

(Matthew 16:24-25 – The Living Bible)

Be encouraged!

IF NOT FOR GRACE – A REMINDER

IF NOT FOR GRACE – A REMINDER

This morning I came across the video of Pastor Clint Brown’s testimony of an instance where God demonstrated His divine protective grace in his life and the powerful song birthed out of the experience.

Even though I’d heard it before, the testimony and song still blessed me again and I hope that by listening to it, it will bless you too.

“IF NOT FOR GRACE” – PASTOR CLINT BROWN

After watching and listening to the video, I reflected on the many instances of God’s protective grace manifesting in my life.

One that comes to mind that happened many years ago is one Saturday morning a co-worker and I were jogging and all of a sudden I felt the urge to cross the street so I said “let’s cross over” and we immediately did and as soon as we reached the other side of the road, an SUV came speeding around the curve and slammed into a lamppost inches away from the very spot where we were.

I know that if we had not crossed the road at that point, we both would have either been severely injured or dead.

Amazingly, the driver of the SUV, an intoxicated teenager trying to make it home after admittedly drinking and partying all night long, only sustained minor injuries but the vehicle was severely damaged.

He was really out of it and began crying saying he could have killed us, he could have killed himself  and his father was going to kill him for being out all night and crashing their SUV.

This is just one instance of God’s grace manifested in my life as His divine protection but there are so, so many more that I know of and I’m sure countless instances that I am not even aware of.

I am so grateful for God’s grace!

How about you?

Can you think of a time when it was only the grace of God that kept you from some disaster, injury or perhaps even death?

Is so, pause and thank Him once again for His grace upon your life.

What extensive grace and mindfulness from God, the very Creator of the universe!……..How mind boggling!……..How amazing!

The Psalmist David expresses his amazement of God’s mindfulness toward us this way:

“When I view and consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained and established,

What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of [earthborn] man that You care for him?

(Psalm 8:3-4 – Amplified Bible)

Many years ago, the group Point of Grace produced a song called “Who Am I”.

It is one of my favorite songs about God’s mindfulness of and grace toward us.

Be blessed as you listen.

“WHO AM I” – POINT OF GRACE

“Many, O Lord my God, are the wonderful works which You have done, and Your thoughts toward us; no one can compare with You! If I should declare and speak of them, they are too many to be numbered.”

(Psalm 40:5 – Amplified Bible)

WHO, WHERE OR WHAT WOULD YOU OR I BE TODAY IF NOT FOR THE GRACE OF GOD?

SELAH!

Be ever grateful.

ADVICE FOR WHEN YOU GO OUT TODAY

ADVICE FOR WHEN YOU GO OUT TODAY

REMEMBER THIS WHEN YOU GO OUT TODAY

REMEMBER THIS WHEN YOU GO OUT TODAY

When you go out today

Go with the knowledge that you are a child of the Most High God,

Go with the knowledge the that Holy Spirit is in you,

Go with the knowledge that angels are encamped round about you,

Go with the knowledge that you are not alone.

When you go out today

Go with the knowledge that your day is not a mystery to your Father,

Go with the knowledge that His wisdom is just a prayer away,

Go with the knowledge that His power lies within you,

Go with the knowledge that there is nothing He won’t enable you to face.

When you go out today

Go with the knowledge that the joy of the Lord is your strength,

Go with the knowledge that no weapon formed against you shall prosper,

Go with the knowledge that you are more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus,

Go with the knowledge that it’s about His Kingdom, it’s not about you.

When you go out today

Go with the knowledge that this world is not your home,

Go with the knowledge that your citizenship is in heaven,

Go with the knowledge that you are on assignment,

Go with the knowledge that you are just passing through.

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge:…….”

(Hosea 4:6 – KJV)

Now go out with this knowledge and make the most of today.

Shalom!

MONDAY MORNING CHALLENGE

MONDAY MORNING CHALLENGE

I'M GONNA KEEP MY JOY!

NO MATTER WHAT, I’M GONNA KEEP MY JOY!

“This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.”

(Psalm 118:24 – NKJV)

It’s Monday morning once again and that means different things for each of us.

For some, Monday’s are a joy.

For others, well let’s just say Monday’s are something else.

However, for all of us, this Monday is a new day that the Lord has made and because we are alive to experience it, it is a special gift from Him to us.

So what’s the Monday morning challenge?

The challenge is to start the morning with the mindset that this is the day that the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it and to maintain that mindset throughout the entire day no matter what you encounter.

In other words, the challenge is to start the day with an attitude of joy, and maintain that attitude all day no matter who or what comes your way.

So, are you up for the challenge?

If so, declare with me :-

“In the Name of Jesus I decree and declare come who or what may, the enemy will not steal my joy today!”

Again:-

“In the Name of Jesus I decree and declare come who or what may, the enemy will not steal my joy today!”

One more time:-

“In the Name of Jesus I decree and declare come who or what may, the enemy will not steal my joy today!”

Great!

May God’s grace rest mightily upon each of you who takes up the challenge.

Here’s two versions of “This is the Day” to start you on the way.

“THIS IS THE DAY – PLANETSHAKERS”

“THIS IS THE DAY” – FRED HAMMOND

If you want to share your experience at the end of the day, you’re welcome to pop by and leave a comment.

Have a great adventure!….:)

HOW’S YOUR BODY? – HOW’S HIS TEMPLE?

HOW’S YOUR BODY? – HOW’S HIS TEMPLE?

YOUR BODY IS HIS TEMPLE

YOUR BODY IS HIS TEMPLE

The following is a post I wrote in February of 2012 called “Your Body – His Temple – Healthy and Fit or Rundown and Sick”.

I felt impressed to re-blog it this morning as a reminder to us of the importance of, and responsibility we have as members of the Body of Christ to take care of our bodies as best we can.

Be encouraged!

Be motivated!

Be blessed!

Kim

You just received a call from Jesus and He said He is coming to live in your house.  After hanging up, you get another call from a millionaire who will give you  whatever type of house you want to accommodate Jesus.

What type of house would you choose?

Whatever the design, size or location of the house you choose, I am pretty certain that you would at the least make sure it has a firm foundation, strong walls, a good roof and doors, no plumbing or electrical issues, adequate ventilation and lighting and be clean and secure.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

“Do you not know that your body is the temple (the very sanctuary) of the Holy Spirit Who lives within you, Whom you have received [as a Gift] from God? You are not your own,

You were bought with a price [purchased with a [a]preciousness and paid for, [b]made His own]. So then, honor God and bring glory to Him in your body.” (Amplified Bible)

I Corinthians 6:19 clearly tells us that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit and that He lives in us.

I have a question?

Knowing this, why are so many of us Believers/Kingdom Citizens/Christians so careless about His accommodations, neglecting the well-being of our bodies and taking our health for granted?

If Jesus were to manifest in the natural realm and come to live in your house, wouldn’t you make sure that your house is in the best state that you could make it?………of course you would!

So then, if you are not doing so, why is it that you do not do the same for your body which His Spirit dwells in?

Why are you not keeping it in the best state you can?

Really, think about it.

Why is it okay in your mind to “fix up” a physical structure to the best standard possible to accommodate Jesus but not extend that same concern, zeal and determination to “fix up” your body that His Spirit actually dwells in?

I believe there is something wrong with that picture!

Saints, it is time for us in the Body of Christ to stop playing around and be more vigilant about our health and physical well-being.

There are far too many of us who have the Holy Spirit dwelling in run down, overweight, temples infested with lifestyle diseases and/or conditions that we can take measures to improve or eliminate, but refuse to do so.

Now please note that I am not addressing persons who practice healthy living and good temple maintenance and are still smitten with some disease or medical or physical condition, nor am I addressing those who are born with certain illnesses or medical conditions or who develop certain illnesses or medical conditions that are beyond their control.

I am addressing persons in the Kingdom who simply have a lackadaisical attitude toward the state of their bodies and the preservation of their health and who know they can and ought to take better care of themselves but won’t make the effort to do so.

When we allow ourselves to be in such a state, what do you think we are showing the world/unbelievers?

What kind of message are they receiving when they see Christians who claim to have a personal relationship with this mighty, wise, all-knowing God and to have His actual Spirit dwelling in them afflicted with preventable diseases and/or medical conditions simply because of poor lifestyle choices and a lack of discipline in their lives?

Believe you me it is not a good message and I have heard many, many negative comments by unbelievers in this regard. These actions on our part bring great reproach to the Name of Christ and the Kingdom of God……………..Saints this is serious stuff!

Listen, you and I only get one body on this earth for the Lord to work in and through and as Kingdom Ambassadors, we need to be good stewards of it and do all that we can to make sure that it is healthy and fit.

Let’s face it, when we are physically run down or sick, we are not much good to ourselves yet alone to anyone else and God not only needs spiritually and mentally fit soldiers in His end-time army, but physically fit ones as well.

So, what is it that you need to do to improve your health and physical well-being? What is it that you need to do to renovate and upgrade your temple?

  • Eat a more healthy and balanced diet?

  • Increase the amount of water you drink to make sure you get 6-8 glasses per day?

  • Begin and maintain a regular exercise program?

  • Get 6-8 hours of sleep each night?

  • Carve out some time for relaxation?

  • Spend more time meditating in the presence of the Lord?

  • Spend more time reading His Word which according to Proverbs 4:22 is life and health to our flesh?

  • Pray more, which is proven to lower levels of stress in a person’s body?

  • Go to your doctor and get that physical that you have put off for far too long and you know it?

  • Stop practicing a sexual sin, it is a sin against your body?

If you don’t know, ask the Lord. Ask Him to show you the lifestyle adjustments you need to make to help you to improve your overall state of health and physical well-being and thereby improve the state of your body, the dwelling place of His Holy Spirit.

I have an aunt who is a Spirit-filled medical physician and on many occasions she has said to me that it grieves her spirit to see so many of God’s people sick and even die, simply because of their lifestyle choices and lack of discipline when it comes to eating and taking care of their bodies.

Saints, it’s time to wake up and close this open door that the enemy uses to attack our bodies and when possible, take our lives.

If you know that the Spirit of the Lord is speaking to you through this post, please do not harden your heart to His voice or take offense.

Instead repent and by His grace, His divine enabling power, take action and let today be the day of new beginnings in this area of your life and walk with the Lord.

God bless you and be encouraged!

DON’T WORRY – PRAY!

DON’T WORRY – PRAY!

DON'T WORRY - PRAY!

DON’T WORRY – PRAY!

This morning I woke up with Philippians 4:6-7 on my mind and I know exactly why.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” – (NIV)

The Amplified Bible says it this way:

“Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.

And God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” – (Amplified Bible)

I am presently in the process of establishing and launching my life coaching practice and as with any other business, I have a myriad of decisions to make, compliances to meet and things to put in place.

Having been the “go to” person among my family, friends, peers, colleagues, superiors, and brother’s and sister’s in Christ for a listening empathic ear, clarity in a situation, advice or a different perspective on problems, and/or help in making decisions since my teen years, and doing it pro bono in spite of acquiring the professional qualifications and training in both counseling and life coaching along the way, I am finally moving into doing it professionally so it is quite a change.

In light of this, I know why I woke up this morning with Philippians 4:6-7 on my mind.

The Lord brought that scripture to my mind as a reminder to me not to allow the process of establishing my business to overwhelm me and place me in a state of worry or anxiety, but to instead pray about and trust Him each step of the way and thereby, maintain my peace.

As I write Matthew 6:25-27 which speaks about he futility of worrying comes to mind.

It states:-

“Therefore I tell you, stop being perpetually uneasy (anxious and worried) about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink; or about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life greater [in quality] than food, and the body [far above and more excellent] than clothing?

Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father keeps feeding them. Are you not worth much more than they?

And who of you by worrying and being anxious can add one unit of measure (cubit) to his stature or to the span of his life?” – (Amplified Bible)

Proverbs 3:5,6 also comes to mind.

It states:-

“Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding.

In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.” – (Amplified Bible)

This is a an excellent and wise strategy to use when dealing with matters ahead of us.

What is it that you face today that if allowed can turn into a source of worry and anxiety, or perhaps has already turned into a source of worry and anxiety?

My word to you is God’s Word to me.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” – (NIV)

Selah!

As we move forward to deal with the various situations we face in our lives, by God’s grace, let’s be doers of this Word and not hearers only.

Let’s be careful not to worry and make sure that we pray about each step before us, trusting Him to led the way.

Agreed?

Great!

Be encouraged!

“MY REDEEMER LIVES” – NICOLE MULLEN

“On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ” Then they remembered his words.”

“WORTHY IS THE LAMB” – BROOKLYN TABERNACLE CHOIR

“FOREVER GRATEFUL” – MARTY NYSTROM AND HOSANNA MUSIC

“For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life.
For God did not send the Son into the world in order to judge (to reject, to condemn, to pass sentence on) the world, but that the world might find salvation and be made safe and sound through Him.

WHEN “YES” SHOULD BE “NO”

WHEN “YES” SHOULD BE “NO”

SHOUD YOUR "YES" BE "NO"

SHOULD YOUR “YES” BE “NO”?

Have you ever agreed to do or commit to something that you knew deep within your heart was not for you to do or commit to at the time?

I know I have, and it definitely is not a good experience.

Here are two typical scenarios.

SCENARIO 1

It’s 5:45pm on a Friday evening and Jamie has just gotten home from work after a long, hard week.

Exhausted with her head pounding and body aching, she opens the door to her apartment and heads for the bathroom.

All she wants to do is take a hot shower and curl up on the couch.

Jamie knows she needs to rest.

The phone rings.

It’s her co-worker/friend Dawn and the following conversation ensues.

“Hello.”

“Hi Jamie”

“Hi Dawn. What’s up?”

“I’m wondering if you can keep my kids tonight? Dave wants to take me to dinner; I know it’s short notice but I really need this favor.”

“Oh, umm, okay…..no problem. What time?”

“I’ll bring them at 7:00 pm”

“Okay Dawn.”

“Great! Thanks a mill!”

“Okay, goodbye.”

Jamie hangs up the phone. She really does not feel up to babysitting anyone.

She flops her aching body down on the couch and she is angry; angry with Dawn for being so insensitive by asking her to keep her kids on such short notice, especially after such a trying week and angry with herself for not saying “no”.

What do you think Jamie could have said to Dawn that would have been a more authentic and truthful, yet tactful and sensitive response?

I think that as opposed to agreeing and violating her conscience by saying “yes”, perhaps she could have said:

“Dawn, I’m happy Dave asked you out and I understand your babysitting dilemma, but I really can’t keep the kids tonight because I’m honestly not feeling well and need to rest. I am sorry to not be able to help you this time, but maybe next time.”

Have you ever agreed to do something you knew deep within your heart was not for you to do at the time?

In other words, can you recall a time when your “yes” should have been “no” when requested to do something?

If so, how did you feel after agreeing to do it?

What could you have said that would have been a more authentic and truthful, yet tactful and sensitive response?

SCENARIO 2

John is a loving husband and father of 9-year-old twin sons.

He takes his responsibilities as a godly husband and father seriously and therefore makes time in his busy schedule to build his relationships with his wife and sons and be the priest of his home.

John is also the owner and CEO of a large, thriving consultancy firm which he not only views as a means of income and financial stability, but also as a marketplace ministry. As such, not only does he run the business based on God honoring principles, but he also personally leads a devotional meeting every Monday morning for his staff and hosts a Bible Study on Thursdays for an hour after work which many of his employees attend.

John is also an active member of the men’s fellowship at his church, always ready and willing to take part in and contribute to its many projects, activities and assignments, and in the community, he is known for making the most of every opportunity that arises to share his faith in Christ and to encourage or build up everyone who crosses his path.

John feels good about his life and has inner peace about what He is doing to advance the Kingdom of God at home, work, church and in the community. Challenged but not overwhelmed, he senses deep within his spirit that He is walking in the will of God for this season of his life.

One morning after just settling in at work, the phone rings.

It’s John’s pastor and the following conversation ensures.

“Hello, John speaking.”

“Hi John, this is Pastor Brian…how are you and your family?”

“Hi Pastor Brian, we’re doing great!….it’s nice to hear from you.”

“John, the board has decided to appoint a new head of evangelism who will be responsible for training the church members in techniques and issues on evangelism. This person will organize and lead training sessions on Wednesday evenings from 7:30pm – 9:00pm and practice sessions on Saturday mornings from 10:00am – 11:00am over the next 6 months.”

“Okay”

“Well, we’ve talked and prayed about who would be best suited for this position and we’ve come to the unanimous decision that you’re the man for the job.”

“Really?” says John as he feels that familiar knot forming in his stomach that occurs when God is warning Him not to go down a particular path.

“Yes John, and we know you won’t disappoint us by saying no will you?”

“No, of course not”…says John as he feels the knot in his stomach tighten.

“So what do you say John? Can we depend on you to take this appointment? It is a very important need in the church.”

“Well okay, I’ll do it.”

“Great!…I’ll let the board know. Thanks John!’

“No problem Pastor Brian.”

“Bye John, I’ll talk with you later.”

“Goodbye Pastor Brian”

John hangs up the phone and thinks to himself “what on earth have I done!”

He knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that he should not have agreed to take the position due to his present schedule and the now painfully tight knot in his stomach mockingly re-affirmed his wrong choice.

Disappointed and angry with himself  for not telling Pastor Brian “no”, John sits wringing his hands, wondering how he can get out of this predicament he’s placed himself in.

What do you think John could have said to Pastor Brian that would have been a more authentic and truthful, yet tactful and sensitive response?

I think that as opposed to agreeing and violating his conscience by saying “yes”, John could have said:

“Pastor Brian, I am truly honored that the board would consider me for such a position, but because of my present schedule and commitments, I can not effectively serve in that capacity at this time. Even as you spoke, I got that inner nudge from the Holy Spirit that this is not the time for me to take on such a commitment. Again, although honored I will unfortunately have to turn down the position at this time; I hope you understand.”

Have you ever agreed to commit to something that you knew within your heart was not for you to commit to at the time?

In other words, can you recall a time when your “yes” should have been “no” when requested to commit to something?

If so, how did you feel after agreeing to commit to it?

What could you have said that would have been a more authentic and truthful response, yet tactful and sensitive?

If we are honest with ourselves, when it comes to personal requests, sometimes we say “yes” to what we know deep inside we should really say “no” to because of fear; fear of disappointing the other person, fear of rejection by the other person, fear of losing an opportunity, fear of no longer being viewed by the person in a favorable light, fear of an angry response from the person, or fear of some other negative result if we say “no”.

Other times we succumb to the temptation of “yes” to what we know deep inside we should really say “no” to because we feel “yes” will afford us some desired personal gain such as perks, privileges, higher esteem, greater income, coveted associations, a glamorous or outstanding addition to our resume, a favor we can “cash in” on later when we need something from the person in the future, or some other coveted result.

And other times, we say “yes” when we we know inside we ought to say “no” simply because we do not want to hurt the feelings of or disappoint the other person.

Whatever the case, as Believers, it is important for us to practice honesty in all aspects of our lives including saying “no” to personal requests when deep in our hearts we know we ought not say “yes”.

According to Psalms 51:6, God desires truth in our innermost parts.

This means that when faced with a request, an inner “no” in our spirit should manifest as an outer “no” and not as a “yes”, and conversely, an inner “yes” in our spirit should manifest as an outer”yes” and not as a “no”.

Selah!

Father, we confess that we have not always handled personal requests in a way that is pleasing to You.

Forgive us of every past instance of inauthenticity and dishonesty in our dealings with such matters and enable us by Your grace, Your divine enabling power, to walk in truth in spite of the consequences.

Keep us mindful of the reality that it is far better to please You at the expense of man’s favor than to please man at the expense of  Your favor.

We thank You and ask these things in Jesus’ Name, amen.

Be encouraged!

Kim
