We Celebrate Our Differences. The beloved community includes people with diverse life experiences. Here at Unity Temple we call people to live out the values of our faith; interdependence, pluralism, justice, equity, generosity and transformation. As Unitarian Universalists, we affirm the right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large while also knowing that endorsements or support of particular candidates cannot be part of our congregational process.

UTUUC Relational Covenant

Grounded in our Unitarian Universalist core values and principles, which hold love at the center,  we aspire to be welcoming, kind, inclusive, and compassionate. As individuals and as a congregation we aspire to:

  • Recognize and revere our common ground, diversity, and individuality.
  • Strive to create and grow open, trusting relationships in which all individuals feel appreciated and understood.
  • Listen deeply with curiosity, care, and the goal of understanding. 
  • Acknowledge our differences and question our own assumptions.
  • Prioritize direct face to face communication as a first step during conflict and seek help when it is needed. 
  • Engage in self-reflection to understand our own role when we have caused harm.
  • Humbly seek to restore relationship when harm has been caused.
  • Recognize that conflict can be an opportunity for personal and congregational transformation.
  • Keep our individual needs in balance with the health and vitality of the community as a whole.

We share this commitment in covenant with each other.
