Red Bird
Red Bird[note 1] is a minor character in Undertale. She is a patron of Grillby's and sits at the front table next to Ugly Fish.
Red Bird is a pink-red bird monster wearing a white tank. Her eyes are typically closed.
Red Bird typically speaks for Grillby, despite not actually knowing what is being said. She admits this herself during the True Pacifist Route epilogue.[3]
Red Bird explains that dogs in the restaurant are members of the Royal Guard, led by Undyne. She further explains that many children aspire to be like Undyne due to her brash personality. Following the protagonist's hangout with Sans, she notes his status as a sentry but claims he only spends his time reading car magazines.
If the Snowdin Canine Unit are killed, Red Bird notices their disappearances and mentions how something feels really off.[4] If Papyrus is killed, she notices that Sans has not shown up at Grillby's recently.
Once the protagonist defeats Undyne, Red Bird expresses boredom. If Undyne is killed, she says she needs another espresso because something feels really bad.
During the True Pacifist Route epilogue, Red Bird looks forward to a "brand new world". She laments the possibility that she will not be able to translate for Grillby anymore.
The "Grillby's Rogues' Gallery" on Fangamer provides more information on Red Bird. Known as Bird[5] (JP: バード), she sometimes gets into disagreements with Sans about what Grillby is saying. Grillby is relieved until Sans usually provides an even worse "translation".[1]
