The central challenge of cryopreservation was never just preservation, it’s also safely coming back. Until Mark 1 shows organ-scale rewarming no longer needs industrial power budgets. A real step toward cryopreservation in transplant centers.
Full writeup:
But rewarming must be even faster than cooling, because the temperature window where ice begins to *extend* comes after the temperature window where ice begins to nucleate. For this reason, we’ve engineered our rewarming devices to optimize two controls on heating power:
Field
⚠️The danger zone of ice formation is a temperature range between 0°C and -130°C where ice is most likely to nucleate. When cooling an organ to cryogenic storage temperatures, the organ must safely pass through this range with minimal ice nucleation. A fast cooling rate and good

With our magnet, a kidney can successfully traverse the danger zone of ice formation in under a minute, using only a few kilowatts. That means it can operate off of standard hospital outlets⚡️

We had such a lovely time meeting everyone last night at our screening of Anwar. Grateful to @FawazAM and @huntercoledavis for an incredible Q&A, and to everyone who came out with such thoughtful questions and curiosity 🧠✨

I'm excited to introduce Mark 1, Until's electromagnet for rapidly rewarming organs from cryogenic storage temperatures. We set out to scale magnetic nanoparticle warming to human-scale organs while keeping the coil losses low enough for hospital use. Mark 1 produces a 900 kHz

If you're eager to shape what comes next, don’t miss this! Come meet the Until Labs team at our screening of Anwar in SF on May 13.
Film & conversation with people thinking seriously about the future. Link to the application form is below.
We’re hosting a screening of Anwar on May 13th in SF in hopes of meeting high caliber individuals who our interested in joining our mission.
Anwar is a sci-fi short film that explores how two humans grapple with life-altering technology.
We’ll be joined by director @FawazAM for
