What are my billing options at TruNorth?

We offer several flexible billing models to fit your business needs and cash flow preferences.

Cadence Billing

Cadence Billing divides your project cost into equal monthly payments over the life of your project.

Example:

  • Project Estimate: $100,000
  • Deposit: 10% ($10,000)
  • Balance: $90,000 spread over 9 months
  • Monthly Invoice: $10,000

Best For: Clients who want simple, predictable monthly payments.

Weighted Cadence Billing

Weighted Cadence Billing works like Cadence Billing but allows larger payments in your strong revenue months and smaller payments in slower months.

Example:

  • Project Estimate: $100,000
  • Deposit: 10% ($10,000)
  • Payments:
  • Jan–Apr: $5,000/month
  • May–Jun: $27,500/month
  • Jul–Sep: $5,000/month
  • Total = $100,000

Best For: Clients with seasonal revenue cycles or prefer a predictable ramp up/ramp down of costs.

Accomplishment Billing

With Accomplishment Billing, you are invoiced when progress is made on specific milestones or goals. Accomplishment billing is still based on time and materials but tied directly to project progress and not completion.

Best For: Clients who want billing tied to tangible deliverables.

Time & Materials Billing

This is standard billing based on actual project hours and costs. Invoices are issued twice a month as work is performed.

Best For: Clients who want invoices that reflect real-time project consumption.

Fixed Scope Billing

Fixed Scope Billing means your project has a clearly defined scope and a fixed price. Payment is made in full before the project begins.

Best For: Clients who prefer cost certainty and a clearly defined project.

At TruNorth, our goal is to provide flexible billing options that align with your business operations, revenue cycles, and budgeting preferences.

What is the difference between fixed scope and time and materials?

At TruNorth, we offer both Fixed Scope and Time & Materials (T&M) project options. The right choice depends on how much flexibility you want during your project versus how important cost certainty is to your business.

Fixed Scope Projects

A Fixed Scope project is a defined set of deliverables at a pre-agreed price. Everything that is “in scope” is outlined before the project begins, and the total cost does not change as long as the scope stays the same.

The entire amount is paid upfront before the project begins.

  • Pros:
    • Cost certainty — you know exactly what you’ll pay and what you will receive in return.
    • Clear timeline and deliverables.
    • Works well for smaller, straightforward projects.
  • Cons:
    • Limited flexibility — changes to scope will require a change order and additional cost.
    • Can be restrictive if your needs evolve during the project.
  • Best For: Clients who want budget certainty and have a clearly defined project with minimal expected changes.

Time & Materials (T&M) Projects

A Time & Materials project is billed based on the actual hours worked and any related costs. You only pay for the time and effort spent on your project.

Invoices are issued twice a month, based on the hours consumed during that period.

  • Pros:
    • High flexibility — the scope can shift and adapt as your business needs evolve.
    • Better suited for complex or uncertain projects where exact needs may not be known at the start or are envisioned to evolve throughout the project.
    • Encourages collaboration and iteration.
  • Cons:
    • Total cost can vary, since it depends on how much time and work is required base4d upon an evolving set of requirements.
    • Less predictable budgeting compared to Fixed Scope.
  • Best For: Clients who value flexibility, adaptability, and iterative progress over rigid up-front definitions.
When will I receive my invoices?

Subscriptions: by the 1st of each month

Projects & Support: around the 3rd and 18th of each month

What payment methods does TruNorth accept?

Are there any additional fees for paying by ACH or credit card?

Does TruNorth provide project managers, or do I need to bring my own?

Yes—TruNorth provides dedicated project managers to lead and coordinate your project. This partnership ensures smooth communication, shared accountability, and a unified approach to delivering your project successfully.

What does project governance mean to TruNorth?
At TruNorth, project governance means proven structure with built-in flexibility. We run projects in short, focused sprints, combining Agile, Scrum, and PMI best practices to deliver value faster, adapt to change, and keep quality high. From kickoff to go-live, our governance process ensures projects run smoothly, meet your goals, and set you up for long-term success.
