The Stunners
by Sarah Blanc Sarah Blanc
Taking inspiration from Jane, a show by Moxie Brawl about Jane Morris that takes a look at the role of ‘the artist’s muse’ during the Pre-Raphaelite era. This piece is full of poise, pose, pout and plenty of pulling shapes. With a mixture of modern and classical music, we will explore the power play between the artist and the subject. Stand aside Jane, it’s now time for Elizabeth Sidall, Alexa Wilding, Fanny Eaton and Effie Gray to come forward.
Choreography: Sarah Blanc
Performance: Amarnah Ufuoma Cleopatra, Megan Griffiths, Aneta Holder-Veazey, Trinidad Pietro Asensio.
Design: Daisy Blower
Music: Mike Picknett
I’m not crying (I’ve just got something in my eye)
by Susan Kempster Susan Kempster
If we could live life backwards it might get easier as we go along, but the fact of the matter is we can’t.
Running towards, or running away? Easy, or not so easy? “something in my eye” is a dance solo that explores the inner battles and dreams of someone seeking and truly feeling the painful beauty of life, with a need to fully embody every moment.
The work is a personal yet shared exploration of the sedimenting of a lifetime of experience, passing through memories – both real and fantastic – to reach a kind of sitting with what is – just what is – for now…
Choreography and direction: Susan Kempster
Performer and movement: Donald Hutera
Music: Jim Haynes – Sever, Johannes Brahms String Quintet in F major Op.88 2 nd
Movement: Grave ed appassionato, Sylvester – You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)
Off Peak
by Irene Cioni, Giuliana Majo & Julia Pond
Off Peak was born around a kitchen table in Tottenham, between 9am-3pm, or maybe between 10pm -12am, amidst the squawks of small children, or maybe the screaming laughter of women with a couple free hours.
A collaboration between three artists and mothers feeling the squeeze, the rage, the constant FOMO, of women in their 40s who, perhaps alone, refuse to consider themselves irrelevant.
Movement and text twists life experiences of shortened work hours, a patriarchy that plays peek-a-boo, a life that demands turning personal and professional roles on and off, and off and on. We will begin by creating three diverse solos in three locations, rehearsal directing each other and weaving them together into one, very relevant, performance. Because of course Off-Peak is impossible to create during peak hours in a studio residency, even if we would love that.
