Comment with reasons why you positively love me if you'd like to be added ;) but I don't add people all that often anymore considering how full my friend's list is already. Most fandom posts (including fic) will be left unlocked and you can find my icons at clueindonut.

Day 3 & 4 - 30 Days of The Mortal Instruments

Day 3 - Favorite Downworlder and least favorite Downworlder.

For this? I have two favourites.

1. Magnus Bane. Beautiful partially Asian, glitter make up wearing, rainbow leather pants wearing, Warlock. Oh, I love him so. Flaunting and sexual, he has a painful past (which I do not know much about) and he doesn't charge his crush/love of his life for using his warlocky magic to heal him or make Aquatrucks.

“Magnus? Magnus Bane?”

“That would be me.” The man blocking the doorway was as tall and thin as a rail, his hair a crown of dense back spikes. Clary guessed from the curse of his sleepy eyes and the gold tone of his evenly tanned skin that he was part Asian. He wore jeans and a black shirt covered with dozens of metal buckles. His eyes were crusted with a raccoon mask of charcoal glitter, his lips painted a dark shade of blue. He raked a ring-laden hand through his spiked hair and regarded them thoughtfully. “Children of the Nephilim,” he said. “Well, well. I don’t recall inviting you. I must have been drunk.”

2. Simon Lewis. He is Clary's best friend from childhood. I love Simon. He's a giant geek, a bit dork!snarky and a sweet boy. My dad might actually approve of me marrying this one. Also, he's in a band. How cool is that? He later becomes a hot Jewish Vampire.

You know what Jewish Vampires are to a Jewish Fangirl? Crack. That's right, Cassie Clare, you gave me crack in book form. Crack crack crack.

Simon said. “It’s a joke, Isabelle. He’s the Count. He likes counting. You know. ‘What did the Count eat today, children? One chocolate chip cookie, two chocolate chip cookies, three chocolate chip cookies…’”

There was a rush of cold air as the door of the restaurant opened, letting in another customer. Isabelle shivered and reached for her black silk scarf. “It’s not realistic.”

“What would you prefer? ‘What did the Count eat today, children? One helpless villager, two helpless villagers, three helpless villagers…”

... and as for my least favorite? I don't really have one. Even I like Camille when she shows up on my book page. I suppose if I had to pick one, it would be her though. She's kind of snobby. Hello, prequel crossoverness.

Day 4 - Downworlders: Fair Folk, Children of the Night, Children of Lilith, or Children of the Moon?

Children of the Night. Okay, it's probably because I have a thing for Vampires. Shocker? No. This is not to say that I do not appreciate my Fae, Warlocks or Werewolves. All are pretty awesome.

I think maybe, I just like blood and drinking blood. Not personally, of course, but… Yep, Vampires.

30 Days of The Mortal Instruments - Day 2

Day 2 - Favorite Shadowhunter and least favorite Shadowhunter

Okay, a little while ago -- admittedly -- I would have been like: "Hands down, Jace I-Have-So-Many-Last-Names, is the best Shadowhunter that ever bested." I don't care that bested is not an actual word. It is in my dictionary and… honestly, he is the best Shadowhunter that ever bested in my mind. I have an unnatural and intense love for Jace Wayland. I swoon when he is on the page. He is my jerk boyfriend in book form. (Logan Echolls and Chuck Bass are still my tv jerk boyfriends).

So, you get the point. Jace is the boy who smirks, says inappropriate things, is not at all modest about his abilities and simultaneously, while wanting to smack him, you'd like to pull him into a dark corner and do absolutely naughty things to him. But, you can't… because he's fictional. Insert sad panda face here.

I really really want to say that Jace is my favorite Shadowhunter, but his *Parabatai has major competition for that role.

Alec Lightwood is different altogether. Although he shares Jace's love for fighting demons and rogue Downworlders it appears where Jace is loud, brass and demands attention, Alec is soft spoke and very serious. He thinks before he does anything and often times he appears uncomfortable in his own skin. Alec is still extremely clever, jealous and he loves fiercely, willing to do almost anything to protect the people he loves.

The quiet passion that animates him, occasionally igniting him like a flame, is absolutely incredible to read.

… Plus, he's pretty nifty with a bow and arrow.

As for least favorite Shadowhunter? This one goes under a spoiler spoil spoil cut.
And spoilers beyond this point for Book 3 - City of Glass! Turn back before it's too late!Collapse )

*Parabatai are a pair of Nephilim warriors who fight together and are closer than brothers.

30 Days of The Mortal Instruments

Okay, so normally, I wouldn't do one of these challenges, but I seriously love this book series and kind of believe everyone should read it. So, if anyone ends up reading it after my babbling on it for 30 days, all the better. There probably will be spoilers though. So you are officially warned in advance and I will cut them ahead of time with labels. I've made alterations on the meme since it came out a year ago, it wasn't super evenly spread among the characters and City of Fallen Angels was not out then. It's been a while since I've absolutely fangirled over something.

Day 1 - Favorite Book.

I love City of Bones. It is the start of the series and I will always go back to it as one of my all time favorites. I was very very tempted to put in City of Fallen Angels as my favorite, because guess what? Cassandra Clare put that 4th book out and it is just as thrilling, if not moreso, as the others. Each book, I swear, gets better. For purpose of getting my friends addicted to this series, as I am, I still think I should start with number one.

In City of Bones, we meet Clary Fray: awesome fifteen year old, red-headed, spunky artist and totally unaware of the huge changes that are about to happen in her life. After heading out to the Pandemonium Club in New York, she stumbles upon a murder. A murder that she cannot even prove happened since the body disappears and she is the only one that sees the three strange teenagers who are decorated in tattoos and carrying weapons. They call themselves Shadowhunters and explain how they're meant to rid the world of demons. Soon after, Clary's mother disappears and she is quickly pulled into the Shadow world with many questions that deserve answers.

Quote:
"I guessed," he said, latching the door behind them. "It seemed like the most likely explanation."

"You guessed? You must have been pretty sure, considering you could have killed me."

He pressed a button in the wall and the elevator lurched into action with a vibrating groan that she felt all through the bones in her feet. "I was ninety percent sure."

"I see," Clary said.

There must have been something in her voice, because he turned to look at her. Her hand cracked across his face, a slap that rocked him back on his heels. He put his hand to his cheek, more in surprise than pain. "What the hell was that for?"

"The other ten percent," she said, and they rode the rest of the way down to the street in silence.

“Children of the Nephilim. Well, well. I don’t recall inviting you. I must have been drunk."

A pair of werewolves occupied another booth. They were eating raw shanks of lamb and arguing about who would win in a fight: Dumbledore from Harry Potter books or Magnus Bane.
"Dumbledore would totally win," said the first one. "He has the badass Killing Curse."
The second lycanthrope made a trenchant point. "But Dumbledore isn't real."
"I don't think Magnus Bane is real either," scoffed the first. "Have you ever met him?"
"This is so weird," said Clary, slinking down in her seat. "Are you listening to them?"
"No. It's rude to eavesdrop," said Jace."

FANDOM COMMENT FICATHON

HOW THIS WORKS:

1. Prompts can be for anything pertaining to any fandom of your choice -- any character, any ship, any crossover, any whatever. No limits, no rules. Just go crazy and enjoy it.

2. Prompt in the comments. Format is thus: Fandom, Character(s) or Pairing and prompt. [Example: Pretty Little Liars: (any of the girls) We scratch our eternal itch/A twentieth century bitch.]

Copy/paste/fill in blanks of code below. Easy peasy!

3. When writing fic, put in your comment title: TITLE OF FIC (fandom, pairing, rating - optional). This will help us people to know that your comment has fic and will therefore get you more comments. Everyone wins.

4. If you read a fic and like it, leave feedback for the author. It's just a nice thing to do.

5. Promote this if you'd like. You can use this code:

Note: I stole this amazing idea from softly_me and her amazing The Vampire Diaries Comment Ficathon. I just wanted to do a general one for the mass collections of fandom out there and all the different things people might want to write or read.

Go crazy, people. Get writing and prompting!

This is brought to you by my day which is making me feel like this:

P.S. Banner to come soon. Feel free to make and post your own. You can comment HERE with said amazing graphic to promote. Cupcakes and love to whomever pleases me so. Any questions, comments and general thoughts go HERE.

those schoolgirl days [of telling tales and biting nails are gone]

So, where do I begin? I haven't really done a decent update in forever. More than months. Stuff went on, yeah. Stuff.

Okay, it's been two weeks since I came back from Israel and I still can hardly really absorb what happened there. It was probably the most amazing experience of my life. I was so happy and I had so many miracles happen to me while I was there. I won't go too much into it, to avoid discomfort in regard to faith/God/etc, but this trip really reaffirmed the kind that I had. I feel more at peace and a lot more forgiving regarding my past as well. I was on my way to that but this trip was the extra push.

I will say, celebrating Shabbat at the Western Wall was mind blowing. I was shaking so hard when I first saw the wall. I've never had such a physical reaction to something. I started sobbing on my way through the crowd to touch the wall and basically cried and prayed at the thing a whole lot. It was incredible and I can say I was there (twice).

I climbed the Golan Heights and the Masada. I had my Bat Mitzvah (which again, I cried a lot at -- the phrase soft as puppy shit became synonymous with me; something my dad started). The lot of us (about 45 total?) became super close even after the first day. I made some really amazing friends and honestly we were family by the second day. To be honest, I probably cried every single day I was there because I was so overwhelmed. I was happy, sad, touched, angry, proud and so much more.

People seem to think that if you go to Israel there's going to be gunfire in the streets, but it is not at all like that. Then again, we weren't near Gaza. The closest we got was Sderot (a few kilometers away). Jerusalem and Tsfat were the best places we went to. Honestly, if I had stayed (and I had a number of chances to do so) I would have stayed another week or so in Tsfat. It's the center of Art and Kabbalah Mysticism and absolutely amazing. I felt so alive there. We also got to check out Bedouin life and spend a night in the tents out in the desert. We sat around a campfire at night and sang so loud we lost our voices. It was incredible.

We did so so much more but I don't even know where to start talking about it. Please, please, if you have the chance, do go to Israel or on a Birthright program. There were people there who celebrated Christmas their entire lives or just found out they were Jewish. Some kept Kosher. A lot of us got Bacon Cheeseburgers on the way back to the States (LOL).

I'm still on an Israel rush and a little sad to be back, but I know I'm going back one day.
