Got a house that was built before 1978? You may have lead paint on your walls! Learn how to safely renovate, repair and clean when working with Buffalo’s old housing stock. These classes are hosted at The Tool Library, where you’ll practice your skills on our original woodwork. Free memberships and supplies are awarded upon completion of the class.

We’ve added some exciting new tools to our inventory! You’ll find new lawn care gear to help with fall yard prep, versatile tech additions (like a 2K webcam and a 16-foot inflatable movie screen), and even a metal detector for the treasure hunters among us. Thanks to the incredible generosity of donors, foundations and the Western New York community, we successfully raised $500,000 and purchased our building at 2626 Main Street at the end of September 2024. Since the campaign launch, membership has also surged from 1,421 to 1,900 members — marking the largest single-year growth in the organization’s history. Now, we’re turning our focus to Phase 2 of the campaign, with a goal of raising another $500,000 for critical renovations and building enhancements to bring The Tool Library’s full vision to life.
