I think I've explained this before, but it bears repeating: my bedroom is not a "bedroom". My bedroom is a living room converted into a bedroom. I get a lot of space at the expense of some privacy (no door, just a curtain separating me from the kitchen), and this is unfortunately the warmest room in the house during the summer, but overall, I like it. It's really only my bedroom because this was where I always stayed when I came over to my dad's for the weekends prior to moving in, and because the other, legitimate spare bedroom upstairs has been turned into storage. So it was just easier to make it entirely mine after I moved in.

So my baby boy died and I'm still pretty...not so great over it.

But I adopted a holy terror named Jackson from the humane society and he's been helping some. Though like I said, he's a holy terror... Ira was never so rambunctious and playful, so dealing with Jackson gets kind of tiring. He's lucky he's cute. 8I

Anyway I wanted to post pictures of him because yeah.

antoj did this thing so I'm going to steal it from her even though my list is going to look pathetic because I haven't finished many games at all this year.

Doing the same thing as she did and only listing when I played something for the first time. Anything that I played but didn't start in 2011, I'll dump in the "games you replayed in 2011" section at the bottom. (Spoiler alert: there will be a lot.)

cut for thousands of gamesCollapse )

What are you thinking about right now?

I was just reading comments about GSC's closing and now I'm immeasurably sad again. I feel like a game studio closing -- a studio whose games I just started playing -- shouldn't hit me this hard, but fuck, it really is. I love the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games and I feel so bad for everyone's who's out of a job now.

I can only hope that maybe S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 can find life again with another company who will do it the justice it deserves, and that everyone is able to find homes at other studios.

Have you ever met anyone famous?

I met Jonathan Coulton and Paul and Storm in 2008. They're famous, right? :D

I talked to JoCo about zombies (because I asked him to sign my copy of The Zombie Survival Guide; my ex had him sign The Orange Box, though he asked him to sign the disc rather than the cover art, for whatever damn reason) and was so nervous the whole time. I want to go to another show of his so I can meet him again and have him sign Portal 2, but I keep missing his Michigan shows :( I did get a signed copy of Artificial Heart last month, though, which absolutely made up for having missed him while he was in Michigan in September.

I also met Jon LaJoie this past April and it was the best. We talked about The League and he signed my copy of season one and I even got a picture with him (even though it's super awful quality because all I had was my old phone for pictures).

But that's my extent of having met anyone famous. I almost met Kathleen and Griffon from Rooster Teeth at AX 2011, and I could have met Travis Willingham at Youmacon 2009 (but we had to go home the day he was having an autograph session), but other than that... I live in Michigan. I really don't get many opportunities to meet cool people. :( I want to meet all of my favorite game studios someday and Rooster Teeth but it's kind of impossible at this point.

EDIT: Oh, and antoj, eyebrowaddict and I could have met Dick Mangina Vic Mignogna at AX 2011 if we'd been willing to stand in line for hours. But who wants to do that? We had more important things to do.

What do you like to collect?

Games. Books and DVDs/blu-rays too, to a lesser extent. But mostly games, and game-related items (like tie-in novels, comics, figures, etc.). And now that I have my own money (in a way), I preorder most collector's or limited editions of the games I want. I'm starting to build up a fairly sizable collection and running out of space as a result...but it's so worth it.

I have a wishlist of games and limited editions I want that's a mile long too. I swear it grows just about every day. I don't have a problem, I promise.

I discovered this site called VGCollect last night that's pretty nice for listing everything I own (and helping me keep a more accurate wishlist). The site's still in beta and incomplete, but it's easy to submit games and corrections. I spent far too long last night adding and correcting :'D

But yep. That's what I collect. One day I'll be living in a mountain of games and it will be glorious.

On a somewhat related note, I started using this site called Backloggery to help keep track of everything I'm playing or need to play. It's kind of neat. I like being able to see everything broken down into unfinished/beat/complete so I always know what I should work on.

All right, that was my post for the month. Time to go submit some more things on VGCollect and then work on NaNo before I try and play some more Peace Walker.
