Faction Identity Crisis: Why the Alliance Still Feels Like Home

I have been playing on the Horde for the last few weeks, even before I posted the last post below, but I guess I will always be an Alliance player. I miss so much of the Alliance designs in the buildings, and the areas I love to hang out in are Alliance only, so I feel out of place when I’m in them with a Tauren.

I guess there’s a reason why I have been playing Alliance for so long. I used to flip-flop back and forth from hard to Alliance back in the day when I first started, but I think it’s because I never knew where my true home was within the game. After playing the game for so many years, I have finally figured out that I am the happiest and the most comfortable with the Alliance, and that’s OK. So, I will be sticking with Alliance and fact-changing my Hunter back to Alliance.

However, I didn’t just waste money and time; I’m going to change my race that my Hunter was. It was a Night Elf for the longest time, and I’m thinking of switching him to be a Worgen.

For the past few months, I’ve been playing a Blood Elf Paladin and I don’t feel like I want to have him transferred over to the Alliance. I do have a human paladin that I’ve been playing since Cataclysm and I want to level him and get his gear up as well. He has the most progress in terms of professions and playtime that I have for a Paladin.

Now I don’t know what I’m going to do since my one-button macros have changed to Blizzard’s version. I haven’t played enough to see if Delves, which is the place though that I was doing to gear everything, is still viable. I will have to research that and play test the character for a while to figure that out.

No Raids, No Mythics, No Problem: Just a Casual Journey Through Azeroth

I find myself as a casual player on WoW. This, coupled with the fact that I don’t really want to learn classes and just absolutely spam so many buttons that I really don’t want to play, I don’t have time for that, but I do have time for is to just play the way I want, and I have been using add-ons to make one-button macros for years under the assumption that it’s allowed in the game, being that one button per physical click on a mouse or keyboard makes it OK.

With that said, I love playing with a one-button macro and I don’t need to be top DPS in raids, mythic, or any other activity within the game. I mostly enjoy just playing alts when I get home from work. I used to play more, but I find that I don’t have time to play all day like I used to back in my high school days. That brings me to the topic of the one-button feature that Blizzard has added within the last patch, which was Patch 11.1.7 in June of 2025.

This week, I spent most of my time using the combat assistant in WoW, and I think it’s awesome. It lets me jump into the game with any of my characters without having to mess with complicated macros or spend hours learning a new class. Instead, I can just enjoy the class story and the fun of the game without worrying about complicated mechanics. It’s great to get right into the game, exploring WoW the way I like, without making it feel like work.

I stopped trying to be the best at raiding and never really cared about tough mythic dungeons. Since I started playing in 2011, I’ve loved being a casual player. WoW has always been a comforting game for me, one I can come back to anytime just to have fun and relax. I’m really glad Blizzard is adding new features for casual players, making the game easier and more fun without needing to spend hours on it. It’s all about having fun, exploring when I want, and enjoying the adventures the game offers.

I appreciate Blizzard’s focus on enhancing the game for casual players, rather than solely targeting the hardcore community with challenging mythic and raid difficulties that I can’t access due to time constraints.

I came across a blog post by Llinwood on warcraftsolo.com, which inspired me to share my experiences as a casual player and the activities I’ve engaged in over the past few years with my chosen play style.

Well Needed Change…

It’s that time again. Switching sides to the Horde for once. I always have the itch to go play the other side of the game. There have been times where I played a whole expansion with one of the sides, but it’s been about close to 9 years of playing on the Alliance without going over to the Horde. I feel it’s time for some change. I just need to pick a character, but I want to change up my class as well.

Do I want to be a Paladin again? Well, that is a short and long answer. I love the class fantasy, and I love to tank in some dungeons. I don’t know how hard the new content will be. I haven’t had the time in the game to try any of the new dungeons or even Mythic level. I used to play a Paladin in Cataclysm, that was super fun, and I wouldn’t mind trying that again. I haven’t done any raids in a while. Maybe BFA was the last time. That being said, the raids that I have done are ones in the LFR setting.

I’ve been a casual player for a long time, and I would like to just be able to do some raids once in a while. The game for me now-a-days is somewhere I like to go when I want to unwind from a long day and have some fun before ultimately falling asleep at some point.

Reading back my old posts

I just wanted to give a little update on my night. Tonight, I was reading some of my old posts that I wrote when I first started this blog, and it’s bringing back so many memories that I have had locked away. I would never have unlocked them if I hadn’t been reading them.

I’m finding that ever since I started this blog more than 10 years ago, there was a goal. The goal to record and share my experiences in the game and anything around gaming that I was doing. This has not changed. I grew up into a world that has changed. The internet can be a dangerous place, and I have been wanting to share more about my journey, but I want to keep safe, so this has been hard to start back up and do this thing again. This has been the best blog I have made on the internet, and I want to keep it going. I would love to have more people check it out and maybe share what they have experienced in gaming. I would love to hear about it.

I want to just let everyone know that I’m trying and I will keep going on this blog. I will be updating on the lore master soon. I hope to start levelling and getting some lore master done this weekend. (Feb 3, 2024)

Having Gaming Everyone!

Turning 10 Years Old. Congratz The Creative Craft

As of today, this blog turns 10 years old. I can’t believe I have been writing on and off for the past 10 years. I know that this blog has not been the most up-to-date piece of the internet I have, but I like to call it home for my thoughts about World of Warcraft and any gaming I do in general. I would like to take this time to thank everyone that is still around and reading. I would love to keep this blog going for another 10 years. I just hope that it will be more active than what I have been doing so far. To the next 10 years!

Been Streamin’

So I have been streaming over at twitch.tv/themythicaloak and I have been having a lot of fun lately. This is something new that I have been into for a little bit. I have been pumping up my production as of late. I still don’t have a face cam but I will in the future. As for right now I have been just getting used to streaming for a long time at a time. I’m used to taking a lot of breaks when gaming. It’s something that I have been doing to help with the mental part of gaming all weekend. without having issues.

There is a point where I need to take breaks but I need to keep going on stream that seems like the hardest part of gaming when streaming. People don’t tell you that part when they tell you all about streaming.

Anyways I have been wanting to keep going and I just wanted to update everyone on things that are happening over at thecreativecraft.

Update on WoW Characters

Right now I will list off all the Characters and classes I have on WoW as of March 9, 2022

  • Hunter – 60
  • Paladin – 60
  • Monk – 55
  • Warlock – 53
  • Death Knight – 51
  • Shaman – 51
  • Demon Hunter – 51
  • Druid – 50
  • Mage – 50
  • Warrior – 50
  • Rogue – 50
  • Priest – 33

I seem to have every class in the game on my list within the alliance. I love that I have all the classes as I want to start working on getting the Transmog sets for all my characters. There is one thing that keeps me playing even if the game gets to a boring with no new content place. I always have transmogs and Loremaster to get done. I have quite a bit to go for that as well. My Progress is below.

As you can see I have been working on it for years whenever there is some down time in content, but I still have a long way to go. I really want to get this achievement. This achievement has been one of my goals since the beginning. I want to walk around WoW with that Title and Tabard. It would be something that I can be proud of from the game. I will be working more of it as this patch that has come out. Shadowlands: Eternity’s End doesn’t seem to be doing it anymore for me, but that will be explained in another post.

Are Blogs still a thing?

For a while I have been away from this blog but I have been finding myself coming back to it form time to time. I want to keep using it but I don’t know what to use it for. I still play wow but I find I don’t have the amount of time to blog about it anymore.

There is a part of me that still wants this part of the internet as my home. Somewhere to write without having to worry about any social media. It has been online since 2013. That is a long time as it’s 2022 now. I do like the fact I have a blog from that long ago. I doubt many people still read here for the time being. It’s been pretty dead for a long time, I can see if there’s no one that will want to be here but I would like to change that as some point. Since going to college and working after I finished school, I haven’t had the time to do anything like this again. I keep saying that I will do something with this blog but it always fall short of doing anything. I’m sorry for that.

Anyways I will look into what I want to do. I may have some time that I will spend on this site. It will need some good amount of work to get it up and running. When I find the things I want to write about. Thanks for the people that come back and read this. I hope everyone is doing well.

A Change to the blog

I haven’t been on this blog for a while. The reason I don’t is because I don’t play world of warcraft like I used to. I have started crocheting. It has been fun for me to try something new. Something that I can make. Playing video games kinda changed for me over this COVID-19 pandemic Just playing it all the time and getting burnt out, among other things like the fact that much of the world stopped for a while. Now everything that halted in production is now delayed. I’m hoping that it will pick up soon.

So I have decided to change the way I have been living with video games in general. Not playing wow is different. I don’t know if it’s an addiction or something else. But I feel like I need to focus on some other things for right now.

So as I change as a person. This blog will change with me.

Update on Hunter (29-50)

This is another update on my hunter, just to keep you updated on how he’s doing. right now he’s traveling the lands of The Eastern Kingdoms, helping everyone he can. My hunter is currently level 50 he’s been leveling fast, by just questing.

That’s why I have not been posting, I have been dealing with getting ready to go back to school on Tuesday. I go back early, I don’t know why but I do. Anyways, I will be blogging at school well when I have some time everyday I will try and write something.

These past few days have been quite busy for me with school and all that. But you don’t want to hear about that. I guess I can get back to the post topic.

My hunter has been doing well he has been leveling fast as I said before and I like the hunter class a lot. I get some hate in the game because I’m a hunter but I don’t care what they think. I’m still leveling my hunter fast as ever now and I hope to get to 90 soon. I will keep you updated on what is going on with my hunter and I hope you have a great time on the blog. Thanks and enjoy.
