No Raids, No Mythics, No Problem: Just a Casual Journey Through Azeroth

I find myself as a casual player on WoW. This, coupled with the fact that I don’t really want to learn classes and just absolutely spam so many buttons that I really don’t want to play, I don’t have time for that, but I do have time for is to just play the way I want, and I have been using add-ons to make one-button macros for years under the assumption that it’s allowed in the game, being that one button per physical click on a mouse or keyboard makes it OK.

With that said, I love playing with a one-button macro and I don’t need to be top DPS in raids, mythic, or any other activity within the game. I mostly enjoy just playing alts when I get home from work. I used to play more, but I find that I don’t have time to play all day like I used to back in my high school days. That brings me to the topic of the one-button feature that Blizzard has added within the last patch, which was Patch 11.1.7 in June of 2025.

This week, I spent most of my time using the combat assistant in WoW, and I think it’s awesome. It lets me jump into the game with any of my characters without having to mess with complicated macros or spend hours learning a new class. Instead, I can just enjoy the class story and the fun of the game without worrying about complicated mechanics. It’s great to get right into the game, exploring WoW the way I like, without making it feel like work.

I stopped trying to be the best at raiding and never really cared about tough mythic dungeons. Since I started playing in 2011, I’ve loved being a casual player. WoW has always been a comforting game for me, one I can come back to anytime just to have fun and relax. I’m really glad Blizzard is adding new features for casual players, making the game easier and more fun without needing to spend hours on it. It’s all about having fun, exploring when I want, and enjoying the adventures the game offers.

I appreciate Blizzard’s focus on enhancing the game for casual players, rather than solely targeting the hardcore community with challenging mythic and raid difficulties that I can’t access due to time constraints.

I came across a blog post by Llinwood on warcraftsolo.com, which inspired me to share my experiences as a casual player and the activities I’ve engaged in over the past few years with my chosen play style.

Time to play…

So I have been playing some WoW this weekend and I found out with all the time I have when I’m playing, I’m finding that I can only sit down for a couple of dungeons at a time and so I only got my monk to 66. I’m hoping that I can get some time on Monday as the time-walking ends soon. It’s going to be hard for me to level without that. It’s the easiest way to get to 70 without questing. Also finding it hard to get into quests for time-walking like I was getting on Friday night and Saturday afternoon.

With what I have been playing, I had a lot of fun with my monk. I was able to get quite a bit of achievements done during this time-walking event as well. This would be the first time this character has seen these dungeons, so that’s why I was getting them.

I have always wanted to know from people that play one character, what it is like to play only one class? Being able to play and max out all reps and do everything pretty much in the game with one character seems interesting. I have always wanted to do that, but my brain wants me to be on many different characters at a time. I think my plan is to just keep all my classes to the max level and progress on one of them, which would be my hunter as he’s my main character.

Reading back my old posts

I just wanted to give a little update on my night. Tonight, I was reading some of my old posts that I wrote when I first started this blog, and it’s bringing back so many memories that I have had locked away. I would never have unlocked them if I hadn’t been reading them.

I’m finding that ever since I started this blog more than 10 years ago, there was a goal. The goal to record and share my experiences in the game and anything around gaming that I was doing. This has not changed. I grew up into a world that has changed. The internet can be a dangerous place, and I have been wanting to share more about my journey, but I want to keep safe, so this has been hard to start back up and do this thing again. This has been the best blog I have made on the internet, and I want to keep it going. I would love to have more people check it out and maybe share what they have experienced in gaming. I would love to hear about it.

I want to just let everyone know that I’m trying and I will keep going on this blog. I will be updating on the lore master soon. I hope to start levelling and getting some lore master done this weekend. (Feb 3, 2024)

Working on Loremaster Achievement

Well, the last few months I have been working on getting the Loremaster achievement done for my main hunter. I think it’s going to take quite a while before I can get everything finished. But I have been working on it when I don’t find anything else to do in the game. I have a few things like that I love to do, like transmog runs to fill out the collection. I think I love doing that so much because I’m a collector at heart with no space in my real life to collect, so the next best thing is doing it virtually. That way, I can have the satisfaction of collecting without the space constraints.

I managed to get the Outlands achievement done a few months ago. I’m proud of it.

It’s something that I wanted to get done for a while. I never seem to get it done on one character, as I have always wanted to move to another class when I have the time to play. So for that, I have committed myself to only work on Loremaster with my main hunter for the rest of the progression through it.

I’m loving the fact, but I can work on this when I want to at my own pace. There will be a point where I have done everything, and that day will be pretty exciting, but also I’m dreading the day that I don’t have Loremaster to work on when I don’t have anything else to do during the low content drought between expansions.

With everything that is going on, I want to keep working on getting the Loremaster achievement. I’m hoping to get it done in 2024 as this is one of my goals. I have been streaming on Twitch.tv/themythicaloak, so I’m looking forward to more of a year of streaming.

My Thoughts on Patch 5.4: Siege of Orgrimmar

First I would like to get you to watch the Trailer if you have not already. My thoughts will make more sense if you watch the video below.

The feeling I had for this was that I didn’t respect the Horde much anymore. I quickly went to the Alliance and because of that I have never been happier. Before you start thinking that Horde is the best and if you are Alliance then "You Suck". I started with the Alliance and I don’t think I can ever be happy on the Horde. That’s just me.

Well what I have to say is that I wonder what the King of SW is going to say about what Hellscream has been doing, better yet I wonder what Thrall has to say about this.

The best part that I have found is going to be the raid but I don’t really raid that much. So the big change that I been looking at is the "The Timeless Isle", I have been waiting for something like this. I love questing and this will make me want to play my paladin again. What are you looking forward in the up coming patch?

What is happening to the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game?

Games come and go. I liked the TCG but I never knew anyone who played the World of Warcraft TCG and for that I never got into it. Hearthstone is something that I can get into because I can just sit down and play a match with someone.

I think that Hearthstone is a great game just to play when you get board of World of Warcraft or other Blizzard game or even a game that is not made by Blizzard so you can play something different for a bit.

The way the Blizzard is advertising this is that anyone can pick up a deck and play. As I played though the introduction to the game in the Closed beta I can tell that anyone can pick up this game and play like they have been playing blizzard games for years.

I love the Warcraft series and I will continue to support it. I think that when they were thinking about the TCG. They were thinking about all the fun that many people were not having because it is hard to find people to play the TCG with and they wanted to get more people into the game.

Some of the comments on the post what Blizzard made were pretty bad in my opinion, a lot of people hated the idea that Blizzard is no longer making TCG card packs and they are blaming Hearthstone for this. What do you think?

Xbox One Kinect going Kinect-less?

Today’s topic is about the Xbox One. I found this on one of the blogs I read.

Earlier this week, Microsoft announced that the Kinect is no longer required at all, and that you can dis-kinect it (hehe…), put it aside, and not worry about using it.

via Xbox One becomes Kinect-less | A Link to the Blog.

This topic is one that is long over due. as some of you guys/gals know, the Xbox One has become Kinect-less. Some people have been waiting for this to happen but I find that, if it comes with the system then it would be like the Wii and you will connect the Kinect to the system when you set it up and you will leave it.

Why are people want to not have Kinect? How many times do you move your Xbox to worry about bring along your Kinect. You can shut off the Kinect but why would you want the Kinect not to be on your system. If I was getting the Xbox One I would want the Kinect to be on all the time. how many times can I say Kinect?

Well the Xbox One is a system for the future and that can only work if you use the Kinect. Well that’s what I think. what do you think about the Xbox Kinect? Comment below.
