Interactive Lighting Demonstrations
• Multiple hands-on sessions exploring real-world lighting techniques across a range of scenarios.
Camera & Lighting Setups
• Practical experience designing setups for everything from small-scale productions to large, high-budget environments.
Specialized Production Techniques
• Including shooting with vehicles, exterior lighting setups, working with soft drops, on-location lighting with compact units, and integrating LED background plates—among many others.
Hands-On Participation
• Opportunities for active involvement throughout the class, reinforcing concepts through practice.
Pre-Production Workflows
• ASC members break down their personal prep processes using examples from their own films.
Direct Access to Industry Professionals
• Daily opportunities for one-on-one conversations with ASC members, associate members, and industry sponsors.
AI in Cinematography
• Exploration of current and emerging uses of AI, including live demonstrations of asset creation through prompts with ASC members.
Virtual Production
• Presentations and live demonstrations covering modern virtual production workflows.
Color Grading Workshop
• Live grading of footage shot during class with notable Colorist hosted at a professional post-production facility.
Director-Cinematographer Panel
• Insights from ASC members who have transitioned into directing and the Director/DP relationship.
Career & Industry Panels
• Discussions on the life of a cinematographer, career development, and working with agents.
Cinematography Analysis
• In-depth breakdowns of notable films and their visual storytelling techniques.
Technology Presentations
• Sessions focused on cameras, lenses, sensors, and emerging imaging technologies.
Film Screenings at the ASC Clubhouse
• Curated screenings accompanied by discussions with ASC members.
Program Details and Enrollment
Unless otherwise noted, instruction takes place at the ASC Clubhouse in Hollywood and at nearby production and postproduction facilities. All equipment is provided by major industry suppliers. All in-class transportation needs are also provided.
Enrollment in each ASC Master Class is limited to 28 participants. Applicants must submit a current résumé in order to be considered (resume submitted through the ASC Store when enrolling).
