Mission
Twin Cities Maker is a non-profit, volunteer-driven community of makers. We provide access to tools and equipment, education, and other resources to help people of all skill levels innovate, create, and learn.
VISION
Our vision is to be a leading creative hub for individuals and the greater community in the Twin Cities, a place where people from all backgrounds and interests can come together to realize their creative and technical potential. We strive to make the Twin Cities a better place by empowering individuals to build, learn, and share their talents and passions.
Our Workshop
We operate a shared community workshop, located in the Seward neighborhood of Minneapolis. We’re always expanding our capabilities, but here are some highlights:
-
- A 3,000 square feet cabinetry grade woodworking shop with almost any kind of power tool you could ever need.
- A machine shop for producing high-precision mechanical parts out of steel, aluminum, or brass with both manual and cnc milling.
- A large metalworking shop, for cutting, bending, forging, and welding.
- A ceramics studio with hand building and throwing stations.
- High-end laser cutters, capable of cutting and engraving a wide range of materials.
- An Artifactory with jewelery, stained glass, picture framing, screen printing, leather working, sewing, and much more!
Our Community of Members
Our shop is run by volunteers and is available to members all day and all night long, every day of the week.
Twin Cities Maker is more than a collection of the coolest tools in Minneapolis, we are a collection of makers who build, connect and restore our communities. More than just providing access to tools and electricity, our workshop is a meeting place, where members can collaborate on projects, share and learn new skills, and enjoy shared interests together. We host special interest groups dedicated to locksport, robotics, and computing. And sometimes, we just get together and watch bad movies.
Every Wednesday night, we open our doors to the public. It’s a great time to meet people, tour of our workshop, and talk about the projects you want to build.
Outreach
While running our workshop is a large part of what we do, our larger goal is to contribute, however we can, to the community around us. Over the years, we’ve sponsored middle-school and high-school robotics teams, hosted hackathons, and assisted other makerspaces both in Minnesota and elsewhere in the nation. We offer inexpensive classes to the community, so that others have the opportunity to learn, grow, and express their own creativity.
