When you think about this, yes it does happen. Guys are interested in the heroics, the adventure, the interesting world that the characters have. They want to fantasize about being part of it. Furthermore, having interesting characters in an interesting world can lead to fun stories. Oddly enough, the present day woke Hollywood writers still blow it.
On the other hand, if Batman attends a tea party, how interesting is that? Maybe he will gossip? Maybe he will share his tales of woe. Maybe you would get something like this
So this might be one reason we all have trouble with female action heroes; they just don’t want the role, nor do they fit the role. Consider which female action characters have succeeded. I can only think of two, Ripley and Sarah Conner. What do they both have in common? They were reluctant heroes who were forced into their roles. Pretty much anything else is unbelievable.
Kathleen Kennedy, who was in charge of Star Wars, was the queen of self-inserts. Many a commentator asserted that Rey was really Kathleen Kennedy in disguise. No flaws, no need to work to get where she was, no real morals, no character to speak of; just a boring awesomely awesome something.

Nonsense. Dave Filoni is the true Queen of Self Inserts. Kathleen Kennedy never climbed into an X-Wing set and filmed herself playing her secret fur-sona.

The other thing about Ripley and Sarah Conner is they both started off as final girls of a horror movie (or in Sarah’s case, horror adjacent, I guess).
The bulk of their time was spent avoiding the threat. When everyone else had been killed and the final girls had been cornered, they managed to neutralize the threats through wits and luck, not by meeting it head on and besting it in single combat.
The sequels turned them into action girls, and the characters suffered for it in my opinion. Though both were reluctant action girls who were protecting their young, which is something at least.

My favorite review of that movie was from Red Letter Media. It descended into drunken madness fueled by Dan Ackroyd’s Crystal Skull Vodka.

I’ve gone off watching them regularly now, I got the impression that they were making shit-posting style reviews. Opinions made to go against the grain of other reviewers that I trust, for no particular reason. Strange decision. When I do watch them, I see no reason to re-subscribe.

Aliens is one of my favourite films. As is T2. But I love T2 for the special effects of the new Terminator rather than the return of Sarah Connor. Aliens pushed Ripley to the limits with the rescue scene but got away with it, in my opinion.

The undercurrent with all this is:
Men and boys make the activity about each other, adventure, learning something, doing something.
Women and girls make the activity about themselves.
Boys playing learn how to move things, make things do what they want, cooperation, hierarchy, and getting things done.
Girls playing learn how to manipulate things, make people do what they want, and get what they want.

I found it bizarre and off putting that Ripley was suddenly in command of a squad of marines rather than the senior marine of that squad. I felt that way at the time, but still enjoyed the movie well enough. Hindsight only makes the decision to put her in charge more sinister.
Advising the squad? Sure. Driving an APC for the first time into and out of an enclosed facility? Kinda silly. Assuming tactical command during a firefight? Nah.

They weren’t really taught to be selfless. I get the sentiment, though.
Women were taught that men want things too. Women were taught that if you want something from a man you like, you need to give him things that he wants. She gets something from him; he gets something from her. She was also taught that he wasn’t the same as her; he’s different. He doesn’t think the same way she does. He doesn’t approach life or problem solving the same way, work the same way, or move through the world the same way as she does. He’s a man; he’s not a defective woman or a woman with a penis.
I did used to know some women who were taught those things.

Yeah.
We have all noticed a few themes that keep coming up again and again.
–Choices. Consequences. Costs.
–you can make your own choices, but there are consequences for those choices, good and bad. Sometimes you can pick your consequences; but you almost never get to choose your costs. Costs are almost always imposed on you. Consequences are what you get from your choices. Costs are what you must pay as a result of your choices.
–if you want something, you have to give something the other person wants.
–women just don’t like men all that much.
–men are responding through quiet withdrawal from society. Men will not break their asses for a society in which they can’t get anything, earn anything, keep anything, or gain anything.
–Women do not owe men sex. That’s true. Men don’t owe women anything at all, including protection, help, attention, politeness, or common courtesy. Men are required only to conform their conduct to the law and to refrain from committing torts and crimes. Women, put your own groceries in your own car. Put your own carryon in the overhead compartment. Reach, move, or lift it yourself. Do it yourself. Do your own work. Don’t come to me for help.
–If wives do not owe their husbands sex, then husbands don’t owe wives anything at all, including provision, protection, money, labor, attention, or sexual fidelity.

And, of course, if tptb notice that list they’ll change the laws to make ‘not doing whatever for women’ a crime, in an attempt to catch the lads out as the romans tried with the bachelor and inheritance taxes.

New Dating Dealbreaker: Women who expect a man to send a car to pick up a woman for a date.
Savannah Pagnozzi, 29: “One of my rules [is] if a man doesn’t at least offer to send you a car for the date … no date. … We don’t do that.” …. Pagnozzi, whose video has garnered over 460,000 views so far, says offering to send a car to a date “sets a tone. It sets a fun, sexy tone. It just gives provider energy … and protector energy. A good man would want to make sure you get to and from the date safely.”

If “wives” aren’t their husband’s sexual property, then they’re not wives at all.
If they require some payment (other than marriage) in exchange for sex, they’re a whore.
If they are refusing to unite as one flesh together with their husband and to fulfill their own marital vow “to be his to have and to hold” they are de facto renouncing their marital vow, and should get nothing as a result of the marital fraud they committed. The Bible refers to marital sexual denial as a “defrauding” and forbids it unless it is done only briefly and by mutual consent.(1 Corinthians 7:5)

Don’t listen to him, ladies! You need to make it unambiguously clear just what getting involved with you is going to be like. You’re awesome, and he should know that you’re awesome! If anything, you should make even more outrageous demands, the more ridiculous the better, because that’s how awesome you are!

How exactly does paying for the girl to get into the car of a strange man, alone, show “protector energy”? LOL That’s absolutely retarded.
“It sets a fun, sexy tone” — for her and the driver guy. Am I right?
“A good man would want to make sure you get to and from the date safely.”
The only way he could assure that would be to pick her up himself. And most dating women probably would rather have a stranger meet them at their home than a potential suitor. Which shows that her initial vetting is completely inadequate, and that she is apparently not under the protection of her father who could easily run off any potential stalkers.

Marriage is a sexual relationship. No sex, no marriage.
Sex is the one thing I get to do with my wife that I don’t get to do with anyone else. If I can’t get sex from my wife because she has refused, then she has for all intents and purposes divorced me.
A woman who will not have sex with her husband is abusing her husband and given him grounds for divorce. A woman who will not have sex with her husband has abandoned her husband and her marriage.

Mostly the father would be protecting the daughter from herself and her inclination to give Chad the cookie without Chad and her father coming to terms which the father is then willing to enforce with a shotgun.
e.g. Chad, when you fuck my daughter, you enter a God-instituted bond “till death do you part”. If you later leave her for any cause other than her committing sexual sin against you, I’ll find you and bring you back to her dead or alive. So, if she’s committed sexual sin against you, you’d better come to me first so that I can correct or execute the right person.
I don’t know if the US military still executes deserters, but I do. If you’re still spinning your wheels trying to figure out what you want in life, you’d be safer joining the military. Our laws can’t protect you until after I’ve acted against the law. Hunting ain’t against the law. Deserter season never closes. If you’re gonna try leaving my daughter without proper cause you’d better kill me first. ‘Cuz somebody’s got to start enforcing God’s laws again, and I’ve got the balls to be that one. Plus, at my age a life sentence isn’t even enough time for me to get caught up on my R&R.
In society if a small group of fathers established the pattern, most of the rest could then operate off the resulting fear of execution. Obviously the ideal would be to get

In an August 10 interview on New Zealand’s TV1 Close Up program McKellen was confronted by the interviewer questioning the truth of the rumor “He’s the one, that when he stays in hotels rips the part of the Bible out that criticizes homosexuality.”
“Yes it is true,” responded McKellen in even tones. “It’s Leviticus 18:22 that I object to, or is it 22:18, I’ve always got to look it up. Thou shalt not lie with a man as with a woman, it is an abomination. And they, I think the punishment for an abomination was being stoned to death,” he said.
McKellen added, “I think it’s rather obscene and pornographic, and shouldn’t be there, so I remove it.”
Asked how many Bibles he has vandalized, McKellen replied, “I have no idea, but other people do it as well, people send me evidence that they have been removing that.”
McKellen has been vandalizing Bibles in the same fashion for at least a few years. He first admitted publicly to the activity in 2004 in an interview with the UK Telegraph.

And they’re mostly women
Columbia University’s magazine noted back in 2023 that “American adults who identify as politically liberal have long reported lower levels of happiness and psychological well-being than conservatives.” However, researchers spent years scratching their heads over why. Scholars from the Universities of Florida and Toronto eventually took a crack at it, drawing on four separate studies. Their conclusion? Conservatives tend to have greater personal agency, religiosity, moral clarity, a positive outlook, and stronger self-worth… which are traits consistently linked to resilience and mental health. In other words, having a sense of purpose and taking responsibility for your life is good for you. Who knew?
Professor Lauren Van De Hey of Utah State University has conducted research that connects the mental health gap directly to political identity formation. Her findings were drawn from the 2022 Cooperative Election Study, a large, nationally representative survey administered by YouGov.
“I further find that there is an emerging mental health political identity that is most pronounced among younger (Gen Z) and more liberal Americans,” Van De Hey said.
Roughly half of the study participants who identified as having a mental illness said that identity was very important or somewhat important to them personally. Yeah, that’s a voting bloc in the making

Major League Baseball warns San Francisco Giants players for writing Bible verses on Pride Night hats
Late last week, the San Francisco Giants hosted their “Pride Night,” with the team wearing hats with a rainbow-colored Giants logo.
Several Giants pitchers, in a statement of their faith, wrote Bible verse designations on their hats. One, starting pitcher Landen Roupp, addressed his reasoning after the game, saying that the verse is about representing “God’s covenant.”
Good for them. There was no criticism of the ridiculous “Pride Night” nonsense…they were merely expressing their faith, and for that they deserve respect.
Hilariously and predictably, MLB has lashed out! Never mind that a “Pride Night” is an overtly political statement, and making the players wear those horrid and insulting logos is imposing MLB’s political and social stance on the players, making the league’s warning explicitly hypocritical.
Per The Athletic, an MLB official has now “warned” those players against violating the rules and writing on their cap.
“The writing on the cap violates our rules, and consistent with normal practice, we have warned the players about future violations,” said Pat Courtney, MLB’s chief communications officer, in a statement.
That’s a lie. Pat Courtney is a liar. “Normal Practice” allows writing on caps unless it seems to attack the sacred cow of MLB… homosexuality. Too bad MLB wasn’t equally strict with the amazingly offensive demonstrations with respect to dead fentanyl addict George Floyd! Apparently political stances are perfectly okay if they are in line with the leftist principles embraced by MLB, but beyond the pale when they support Christianity
Baseball is busily taking a national sport that printed money and turning it into a regional sport with a fair number of struggling franchises. If they think that embracing progressive politics that are antithetical to traditional American culture will save baseball’s fortunes…they are wrong.
