Michael walked up and nodded at the two sandwings.
“Hello." He smirked. “Nice to finally meet you for real."
Thorn squinted at him. “I don't want to know."
“You really don't."
There was silence for a few moments. Then Michael pulled out a strange sphere and motioned to them.
“Humor me for a moment."
Thorn nodded, and Michael pointed the sphere at them. It cast a glow at them and landed on both of their chests. Then, the same rune appeared on both of their chests.
“Just as I thought; you both are descendants of the original queen of this tribe."
Sunny gasped, and Thorn just looked at the rune.
“You were born with them; all true descendants have them." Michael added.
“Do you?"
“Why would I? I created them." Michael laughed. “I am very, very old."
“What do you want?"
“I want to return as my role as guardian."
“Why were you imprisoned in the first place?"
“I wasn't imprisoned, I left on purpose to wait for somebody to actually need me. Five thousand years is long enough."
Thorn raised an eyebrow. “And you're a king?"
“I have many different forms, throughout the multiverse, and the ML is willing to help this planet with its issues."
“You're a bit late."
“And?"
Thorn paused, unsure how to answer this.
“I also think it's fair to help the prophecy dragonets, all three sets of them."
“How?"
“Well, first off, your daughter here seems to not understand what it means to have another hand over their heart and soul to you."
Thorn smirked. “Is it that obvious?"
Sunny blushed, and paced off. She walked out of the throne room to find her room. She asked a guard and he took him to the visitor's wing.
“You can take that one." A guard motioned to a door. “Since that nightwing went with Qibli."
“Yeah, they're in a relationship."
The guard nodded. “Figured as much, what about those two icewings?"
“Not sure yet, but I can hope for the best." Sunny smiled, and walked into her room.
The next morning, Sunny walked out into the courtyard and got ready to return to the academy. Michael was sitting with a few guards and Smolder, chatting idly.
“What's going on here?" Sunny asked them.
“Not much, just waiting for you all to be ready so we can go."
“You're coming?"
“Of course, what am I going to do, just sit around?"
Smolder chuckled. “Hope not."
The others walked out through the doors and stretched. Sunny greeted Moon and Qibli.
“I heard you guys wanted to leave the Jade winglet." Sunny spoke, looking for a topic of conversation.
“Yeah, Kinkajou and Turtle are the only ones left, and we want to teach now." Moon told them “Just like you guys did."
Sunny smiled at them. “Nice, but that means we have to carve out more teacher's caves."
“You only need one." Qibli told her, making Moon blush. “For us, at least."
“Yeah, we have some news, you want to tell her." Moon turned to Qibli. “You tell her."
Gibli smiled. “Were engaged."
Sunny felt her jaw drop, I guess traveling together to another continent, and almost becoming a zombie really brings two dragons together. She could see by the way Qibli held Moon close with him that they really cared for each other. Qibli turned and jumped when he noticed the icewings standing directly behind them.
“Oh, hey, there you are." He smiled. “Did you hear?"
Lynx nodded. “Good for you two."
Winter nodded as well, but stayed quiet. Poor Winter Sunny thought He must not be feeling to well right now. But I can tell that he might be connecting with Lynx lately.
Moon snorted. “I hope so."
The rest stood still, giving her a confused look. Michael laughed as he walked up to them.
“Look at that; another mind reader, this might be interesting."
They took flight and flew towards the mountains. Sunny singled Moon out and flew with her slightly away from the group.
“Tell me everything." She told Moon.
“It was adorable, a few days ago, we were eating together when he started getting really fidgety. He looked right into my eyes and asked me to marry him."
“Aw, that's nice." Sunny smiled.
“I think Blue is supposed to be asking Cricket at any moment, but don't tell her." Moon winked. “Or anybody else that I told you that."
“How are you guys going to get married? Sandwing? Nightwing? Rainwing?"
“Qibli wants to do it sandwing, and that's what we're doing. I never much cared for the nightwing tradition."
Sunny nodded. “I wonder what those are like."
“Something to do with glass, we're planning on watching the queen's marriage and following it from there."
Michael banked, and everyone looked over to see a nightwing flying fast in their direction.
“That's Deathbringer, what is he doing here?" Moon asked.
Sunny gasped. “I totally forgot; Glory sent him."
Moon laughed. “He looks mad."
Deathbringer flew up to them as they all landed.
“Where have you been?" He roared. “I've been waiting all day, then I hear that your already back at the queen's castle?"
Michael smirked. “I can make dragons fly fast."
He flicked his tail, and Sunny noticed for the first time that there was a blade attached to the end of it. He also had blades instead of wing thumbs. He looks more dangerous than Deathstalker did at first.
That's kinda the point.
Michael?
Yep, I can actually talk back as well as read your mind. Starflight should be able to do it too.
He can?
From any distance, same as me.
Why are you covered in weapons?
The species I currently am is Dracios Ultima. I practically created the species to be strong, powerful, and very deadly.
You're not a nightwing?
Nope, but I just let people think I am.
Sunny looked over at Moon, who looked distracted. Are you talking to her too?
Yes, you will soon find out I can do a lot of things.
Deathbringer groaned and stretched his wings. “I'm lucky I got that message."
“You good to keep going?" Michael asked him.
“Yeah, let's go." He grumbled.
They took off again, and the academy appeared into view. As they landed, they made their way into the main entrance. The few dragonets that were standing in the hall gasped and awed at Michael. Tsunami rushed in and wrapped her wings around Sunny.
“Oh my gosh I'm glad you're okay." She breathed. “Glory told me you got to the ice kingdom, but then we got no other messages from you since."
Citrine led Starflight into the main hall, and Sunny broke away from the hug to go and greet him.
“Found the guardian, what's the next step." She joked
Starflight chuckled, then paused. “He's talking to me."
“Yeah, he can do that."
Sunny reached up with her right paw and rested it on the side of Starflight's muzzle.
“I saw you and Fatespeaker, I saw the kiss." She told him.
“You did? How?"
“Magic."
“How much did you see?"
“From right before till she left."
“Look, what I said was true, and if you never return these feelings, I can accept that…"
“But what if I do?"
Starflight jumped. “What?"
“How did you identify your feelings for me?"
Starflight smirked a little. “It took me a few weeks, but I caught myself staring at you, wanting to be around you more, and just, a feeling in my heart."
Sunny's eyes widened.
“But the deciding factor, was when I had this unexplainable urge to lay down next to you when I sleep."
Michael shot a look back at them, but turned back to his conversation with Tsunami.
What are you saying to him?
I'm pushing him to tell the truth, and not hold back.
Can you heal him?
I healed the issue that causes him to nearly die when he has a vision, but he doesn't want me to heal his eyes. He doesn't trust the magic.
Sunny looked at him, he was standing very still, waiting for an answer.
What should I do?
Tell him the truth, duh.
Sunny inhaled, and smiled. “You just described the weird feeling I've been confused about for the past six years."
Starflight gasped, and smiled. “Does this mean…?"
“Yes." She brought his muzzle to hers and rubbed against it lightly. “I love you Starflight."
He beamed so bright Sunny thought the sun had gone out outside.
“Now." Sunny stepped back. “Why won't you let him heal your eyes?"
“I don't trust animus magic, not now especially."
I don't use animus magic! I've told you this, both of you. The magic I would use on you is healing aether magic, and I've already used it on you.
Sunny realized he was speaking to both of them, but more towards Starflight. Starflight frowned slightly, and focused for a moment.
What does it matter? The spell heals your entire face, and it's permanent. It uses your own body to repair your eyes and scales, it's not an illusion like the fairy animus magic.
There was a pause.
Tamarin is more likely to accept than you think, I can heal anything.
Another pause, Sunny felt a little out of place in this conversation.
I gave the icewings, seawings, and sandwings the gifts of animus magic, I think I should know how to use it properly.
You gave us animus magic?
Yes, to the three tribes who earned it. Its not my fault that they eventually abused it and discovered the consequences.
“I'll have to think about it more." Starflight said out loud.
There are three possible outcomes; I do it now, I wait and you ask me to do it later, or I get tired of you being blind and do it without your permission. I respectfully ask for approval before doing stuff like this, but if it becomes a problem, I'll just do it anyway. But its fine for now, you have time.
Starflight nodded, and turned back to Sunny. “Now, we need to talk."
Sunny turned and led Starflight out of the main hall and into his personal cave.
“Did you hear about Moon and Qibli?" Starflight asked
“Yeah, good for them." Sunny smiled.
Starflight turned to her. “Will you marry me?"
Sunny tripped over something, and she was almost grateful that Starflight didn't see her land very ungracefully on the floor. Starflight frowned, and faced her direction.
“That was way too soon, I'm sorry. I just don't really want to wait any more. I figure eight years is enough, but I wasn't talking about getting married right away, just soon. But nevermind, forget I said anything."
Sunny opened her mouth to say that it was okay, But, was it?
“Sunny, are you okay? You're starting to worry me."
He started to make his way to her, but she reached out, grabbed him, and pulled him into a kiss.
“Yes." She breathed. “I'm so sorry for making you wait so long, just for my idiot head to connect the idea that I felt things."
“In your own defense, we have been… Busy." He nuzzled her.
Three weddings! You guys work fast.
Sunny knew by the way Starflight froze that he heard Michael too.
“We can wait a while." She told him. “Just enjoy it."
You say that now, but you will be eating your words later. Michael's voice chuckled.
“Should we tell anybody?" Starflight asked.
“I don't think so, with all the stuff going on. I also just want things to be quiet right now." Sunny smiled. “And I want you to get your eyes fixed."
His frowned slightly. “I still don't like the feeling of that."
Sunny rolled her eyes at him, then sat down and yawned.
“Tired?" Starflight asked her.
“Yeah, it was a long trip." She replied.
Starflight curled up next to her, twining his tail with hers. “I've dreamed of this for years."
“That makes me feel so bad." Sunny groaned.
“Don't be." He set his head down. “I would wait decades for you."
Sunny smiled, and fell asleep.
Sunny woke when Starflight shuffled to his feet.
“Ugh, no go." She smiled at him.
He smiled back, and kissed her lightly on the forehead. “I got work to do, if you come with me you can lounge in the library."
Sunny got up and followed him out of his room and over through the main hall to the library. There was a set of strange claws clicking their way, and Starflight stopped and looked in their direction.
“Anemone, stop. I don't need to waste his time, or his magic." Tamarin's voice rang into the hall.
“Nonsense, I am the princess, and he will do this for you. I want to help do this for you."
Anemone appeared through the entrance, practically dragging Tamarin with her.
“But what if he…"
“You do this, or I buy a harness from that worker in the sea kingdom."
Tamarin closed her jaw sharply, and Michael walked into the hall, chuckling.
“So amusing, young dragonets these days."
Anemone turned towards Michael and strode up to him. “Can you heal her eyes?"
“Why, yes." He replied. “Bring her here."
Anemone did as she was told and led Tamarin to face Michael directly. She shrank visibly in front of him. Even though she couldn't see him, she could feel his presence.
“Turning invisible won't help you." He said, noticing her colors changing. “I can still see you."
“Uhm, hi. You don't really have to do this, if it's too much."
Anemone grunted, and stepped back. Michael leaned forward and lightly tapped the sides of her head, where the cloth covered her eyes. His glowing eyes flashed briefly, and he leaned back, flicking his claws, which were also blades for some reason, and cleanly cutting the bandage off.
“There." He spoke, then turned and walked away.
Tamarin blinked and looked confused for a moment, before the white haze started to fade away from her eyes. Anemone walked up to her and gazed into her eyes. As soon as Tamarin actually locked her gaze on Anemone, she smiled.
“Well, how do I look?"
“Way better than I imagined." Tamarin smiled back.
Anemone wrapped her in a hug, and Tamarin used this moment to look around. Then she looked over at Sunny.
“Sunny? You look so pretty!" Then she turned to Starflight, and gasped. “Those wings, nobody ever described them like that."
Starflight shuffled awkwardly. “So… How do you feel?"
“It's a bit overwhelming right now, but I'll get used to it. Oh! I can't wait to see Queen Glory."
Clay walked absently across the hall, oblivious to anybody else. Tamarin leapt in front of him and smiled.
“Hi Clay."
“Tamarin? You can see?" He replied, surprised.
“Yep, turns out Anemone was right." She turned back to the seawing. “Let's go flying."
They ran out of the cave, laughing brightly.
