Sunny looked up from the paper Michael had given her.

“This is the complete plan?" She asked him.

The last few weeks had been busy, the new teachers had shown up and settled into their positions and curriculums. The new students, including the ones that replaced the holes in the jade and gold winglets, had settled in and started picking out their classes. Michael was also preparing to retrieve Tsunami, and had given her the paper right before he was going to leave.

“Hopefully, if all goes right." Michael replied.

Sunny looked over at the team of dragons currently teaching Clay to use the underwater breathing device.

“How long will you be gone?"

“A few days, don't worry." Michael replied.

“Who's Trice?" Sunny asked, looking back at the paper.

“My daughter, she'll take over for me when I have to go do some stuff away from the academy. Like kill those titans." Michael told her. “Or go rescue a seawing."

“How does this all work?"

“Dragonets are expected to attend six years here, from age four to ten. I have chosen six core classes that don't depend on age, and the winglets will attend them together once every six years. So, by the time the winglet comes back to the class, everybody in it will be new. Then they break up until the discussion period."

“What is that?"

“Basically, each winglet will get an assignment, for example, 'Discuss the rainwing's traditions with your winglet's rainwing, and write down what you've learned.' Then, Tsunami grades them and decides whether or not they are following directions."

Sunny nodded. “That makes sense."

“When I get back, I'm taking you and Tsunami, probably Starflight too, to the Alpha Academy. It's the best school for your species in the ML, and regularly holds over forty thousand dragonets at one time."

Sunny gasped. “That's a lot, how are there that many?"

“It sits in the middle of a city that contains over six million dragons of your species, so it's not hard to figure out."

One of the blue dragons walked up to Michael and nodded.

“Were leaving now." Michael told Sunny “See you in a few days, or less if I manage to speed things along."

The group took off and Sunny watched them fly away.

Clay was flying with a group of heavily armed soldiers, to rescue Tsunami from her own mother in the seawing kingdom. Am I crazy? Why am I doing this? He was also flying at an extremely fast speed; he could already see the beaches approaching swiftly on the horizon. They eventually landed on those beaches, and started preparing for a dive. Clay already knew how to strap on his gear, and put the specialized hose in its place so he can breathe. They had also given him a special helmet that emitted two beams of light, and allowed the soldiers to communicate. It also translated aquatic for him, and allowed him to keep his sense of direction. After a few minutes, Michael signaled everyone, and they dived into the water. It was cold, but the suit helped keep him warm. They made their way through the dark waters, keeping the lights off so they could keep the element of surprise. After an hour or two, Michael stopped and turned to the group.

“The Deep Palace is just ahead, expect resistance, but stick to non-lethal fighting only." He ordered.

They each nodded, then they fanned out in a straight line. After another signal, everybody turned their lights on and started searching the palace from the outside.

“Clay, she's over on the south wing, find her and Riptide, then get to the surface."

Clay looked over and noticed a group of seawing guards flashing angerly at the soldiers.

Stop!

Leave now!

How did you find us!

Clay made his way into the palace through one of the side entrances, but it was so dark that he was forced to turn on the light. The bright beams flashed across the empty hall. Clay made his way through it, checking each door. On the third door, he noticed it was locked. He knocked on it, and flinched back when he heard a knock return. He tried to call, but realized it was pointless. Looking down at the door, Clay swam back, then charged it as hard as possible. The door gave way easily and Clay flew into the room. He saw two figures flinch back, and looked over at them. The beams of light flashed on two seawings.

Clay? Tsunami's lights flashed.

She shrank back when the light flashed in her face, covering her eyes with her paws.

What is that? How are you down here? Tsunami asked.

Clay motioned for them to follow, and led them out through the hallway. Tsunami looked out one of the windows and noticed the other soldiers flashing their lights and Michael talking with Coral. As they left the palace and made their way back to the group, Coral spotted them and softened.

Tsunami, please stay. She flashed.

I have responsibilities. Tsunami replied.

It's not safe.

That's just an excuse. Michael cut in. Tell her the truth.

Coral looked from Michael to Tsunami, then sighed.

I want you to replace me as queen, soon. No need for challenge, or for a whole fight to the death. I've been queen for a long time, and I'm tired.

Clay noticed that Coral did look weighed down.

But mom…

I just want to spend time with Auklet, and finally relax. Coral cut her off.

Tsunami, you may have to get used to the idea of becoming queen here. Michael told her. I have a proposition, wait one, or two more years, so that I can get the academy set up, then she can come back, and take the throne.

But she has to learn how to be a queen…

Glory, Ruby, and Thorn had no idea how to be queen, besides, I can help her. Michael told her.

Coral sighed again. Fine, two years, and she comes back.

Tsunami nodded, and Michael flicked his tail. The soldiers turned and swam back to the surface. Clay and Tsunami followed, with Riptide behind.

How is the school? Tsunami asked.

Clay looked at her, then pointed at his mouth.

Oh, right, nevermind. Tsunami shrugged.

They swam out and landed on the beach.

“Oh my gosh, that was interesting. Where did you get that suit? Wait, Michael, duh. I heard that there are almost twenty new dragonets now, and a bunch of teachers."

“Yeah, Michael set us all up." Clay replied. “Gave us all specific classes, and set up lesson plans and all that."

Michael walked up as his soldiers took flight. “We'll stay for the night, then return in the morning, I almost had to start a siege."

“Yes, and in the meantime, tell me everything." Tsunami replied.

As Michael started to explain every new detail of the academy. While Clay sat back with Riptide.

“So, how have you been?" Clay spoke, trying to make conversation.

“Good, other then spending the last few weeks trapped with an angry princess." Riptide motioned. “Whose mother kind of got us engaged, I don't know what to think about that right now."

“Oh, congrats, I guess?"

“Yeah, it's something we have to talk about, eventually. I doubt I will even see her for the next month now."

“Yeah, the academy is starting again in a few days."

“I heard, how are you doing?"

“Good, Michael helped Peril to control her firescales, so now she won't burn everything."

“Oh! He can do that?"

“I guess."

The sun set, and Michael settled down and closed his eyes. Clay found a spot in the wetter sand and sank into the softness. He watched as Tsunami and Riptide walked into the shallow water, and curled up together.

Clay woke when the sun appeared on the horizon, he looked over and noticed Michael writing in a book. Riptide and Tsunami were still curled up in the shallows. Michael looked over at him when he got up, and looked over at the sleeping seawings.

“We woke up before the two dragons who have done nothing but laze around for the last two weeks." He chuckled.

Clay smiled as well, then stretched. He looked around for something to eat, but Michael waved his claws and a large deer appeared in front of him. He dug in gratefully, enjoying the fresh kill. After a while, he finished his meal just as the two seawings walked out of the water, yawning.

“Hey." Tsunami greeted Clay, eyeing his bloodstained face.

Riptide reached over and calmly plucked a fish out of the water, then he not so calmly threw it at Tsunami's face. Tsunami shot him a look, then dug into the fish. After the seawings had finished their breakfast, the four dragons took flight and quickly made their way back to the academy. It only took a few hours, but when they got their Tsunami was anxious to check in with the teachers and make sure everything was running smoothly. She shot straight into the academy as soon as they landed, Clay shot Riptide a look, before following her. When he entered, Sunny ran up and greeted him.

“Clay, did Fatespeaker go with you? I haven't seen her in a while."

“No, I haven't seen her either." Clay replied.

“I know where she went, and it might be a while before she comes back, Trice will cover her classes for now." Michael told them. “But she might not come back."

Sunny looked over towards Starflight, who was chatting with Tsunami. Somebody called Michael, and he walked away. Clay realized he was starved, and decided to make his way to the prey cave.

Sunny watched as Tsunami introduced herself to the Pantalans, a few of them knew who she was, while a few others marveled at her webbed talons and fluorescent scales. A rainwing stood next to Sunny, watching them as well.

“Are you a parent?" Sunny asked.

Don't be fooled, that's my daughter, Trice. Or Pommie, in this form.

“Oh, nevermind." Sunny added.

Trice chuckled. “Hi, nice to 'meet' you, per se."

“Nice to meet you too, guess we have a lot in common."

“Like what?"

“Daughters of the leaders of tribes, not necessarily fitting into what we are supposed to look like." Sunny flicked her tail, part of her was glad she didn't have a barb.

“I guess that's true." Trice replied

Trice's scales suddenly turned a light blue, and her shape changed to be more similar to Michael's.

“Woah." Sunny voiced. “That's cool."

“Thank you, it took me a while to make this form." Trice smiled.

Trice walked away, and made her way to the teacher's caves.

Sunny turned and walked over to Starflight, who was talking to another nightwing.

“You will like this book." He told her. “It's all about us."

The nightwing dragonet nodded and took the book, then walked off.

“So, Fatespeaker left, and it might be a while before she comes back, if ever." Sunny told him.

Starflight frowned slightly. “I think I might have done that; I hope I didn't hurt her."

Sunny nuzzled him, “It's all my fault, I should have realized long before you were together."

She glanced over to Tsunami and Riptide, who were now talking to the new skywing teacher.

“Want to go tell them?" Sunny asked.

“Sure."

They waited for the skywing to leave, then walked up to the two seawings.

“Hey, we have some news." Sunny told them.

Tsunami was reading from a scroll, but Riptide nudged her and motioned to them.

“Oh, sorry, yes what?" She turned to them.

“Were just engaged, no worries, don't let us waste your time." Sunny replied, then grabbed Starflight and walked away.

She snuck a look back at the seawings and watched their stunned expressions as they looked at each other.

“Is Glory still here?" Starflight asked.

“I think so, why?"

“Should we tell her?"

Sunny smiled. “Yeah, why not?"

They spent a few hours wandering around, before they found out that Glory and Deathbringer are in the guest quarters.

When did we get guest quarters?

When we got twenty new winglet caves, a dozen teachers caves, and a bunch of other stuff.

Oh, right.

They walked into the guest cave and found Glory sitting at a desk, while Deathbringer was asleep on the bed.

“Hey." Glory greeted them.

“Tsunami's back." Sunny told her.

“I heard, I'll go see her tomorrow, I got a lot of work here."

“What's that about?' Sunny asked.

Glory sighed. “The kingdom of sand wants to set up a trade line so we can exchange fruit for glass and some metal."

“That sounds nice." Starflight replied.

“Yeah, except we have to choose who is going to gather the fruit, and nobody wants to do that of course." Glory told him.

“Will the nightwings help?" Starflight asked.

“Probably not, there busy with… other things. Like rebuilding their tribe, and all that. Did you know Michael's trying to get your sister and her boyfriend out of prison?"

Starflight flinched a little “He is?"

“He wants to set up a program so that she can work off her punishment." Glory replied. “I already freed mastermind because of… Extenuating circumstances."

“What circumstances?"

“Michael told me not to tell you, he only said 'make him ask Mastermind who his mother was' and that's it." Glory replied.

Starflight frowned slightly. “Where is he now?"

“Building us some cool little fish catching contraption, down by the lake."

Starflight nodded, then turned his head, and looked thoughtful.

Is that his 'talking to Michael look'

That, and his 'deep thought' look. But in this case, he is talking to me.

“So, we do have some more news." Sunny cut in.

Glory looked up from her scroll and smiled. “What's up?"

“Me and Starflight, we got engaged." Sunny told her.

“To who?" Deathbringer asked, and Glory shot him a death stare.

“Uhm, each other?" Sunny replied, confused at his reaction.

Glory smiled brightly. “Oh gosh, I'm happy for you, I always knew you would be together."

Starflight looked over at her. “You did, because for a second I… You, uhm, were there."

Glory paled, the colors draining from her scales. “Oh, right, I just held on for hope I guess."

What are they talking about? Sunny wondered.

That is something you and Starflight will have to talk about.

Ugh, more cryptic messages, Starflight has to ask his dad who his mother is, what do I have to ask him?

What happened, that only Glory, Tsunami, and Fatespeaker know about.

“Come to bed, it's late." Deathbringer called to Glory.

Glory shot him another glare, before turning to them. “Good night."

Sunny nodded, and led Starflight back to their sleeping cave.
