Sandy
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
UPDATE 2015-05-16:
Sandy died in the early morning of 15 May 2015. She almost died last Fall, though somehow managed to hang on through the winter and part of the Spring. She apparently died peacefully in her sleep in a hospice home. Sandy was 62 years old. She and my friend Judy had been best of friends for 22 years. I suggested getting a plush toy raccoon from Hansa Toy Company to my friend as a way of remembering her, and Judy thought that would be a good thing. Might take a little while to save up for that, though in the meantime we're going to see if we can have the city plant a tree in her honor. I was going to send Sandy another drawing, though obviously can't now, so I'm going to do another as a memorial piece -- maybe in a few days or so.
Anyway, Just thought I'd pass along the news that Sandy, the lady I drew this piece for, has passed beyond The Veil. The Circle of Life turns, and as one path ends, another begins.
Be at Blessed Peace, Sandy.

This is a drawing that I've done for a lady in North Carolina by the name of Sandy (a friend of a friend of mine) who is likely to not be with us much longer as she is suffering from congestive heart failure. She's currently receiving hospice care at home, does not have access to the Internet or even have a computer, but wanted to see my artwork, which my friend has been telling her about. So...long story short, I drew this piece of her as a raccoon G.E.L.F..
UPDATE 2014-09-02:
Sandy received her print today, and she loves it immensely, thanking me repeatedly for it. As soon as I can somehow buy another can of matte finish clear acrylic spray sealer, I'll give the original a couple of coats to protect it from smudges, and then send it to her. Also today, I was able to scan a photo of her (it's a somewhat older photo, but...) and add her face to the image, and repost the new version. So, once the SF server refreshes, you'll see the face of the real-life Sandy in the window on the image.
At least she's happy with it, so I guess it's "Mission: Accomplished". :D
I drew this piece on Mead "Standard Weight" 9 in. x 12 in. paper, using a 0.5 mm mechanical pencil with HB lead, 2B & 6B graphite sticks, and various blending and shading tools, along with an architect's scale for the straight lines.
