Paige
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
Okay, I have finished Paige's drawing, and she loves it, so that's good. I'm writing a little short story to go along with the character, and it will go into how she came to be morphed into an anthro sea turtle, so watch for that. :) If you look closely, there is a gem where her navel would be -- it's an emerald, and will be told about in the accompanying short story when I get it finished (shouldn't be any longer than my other short stories).
Now, about how I drew this...
I used my usual 0.5 mm mechanical pencil with HB lead, 6B graphite stick, and a Q-Tip and other blending tools on Georgia-Pacific "Everyday Copy & Print" paper. What I did differently for this piece has to do with the background. To get the sand texture, I partly penciled it, but then after a little experimentation, I did a "rubbing" by placing the drawing on top of a concrete block and going over the background area with the graphite stick to get the sand texture. After that, I shaded the sand with the pencil, and then rubbed it with a paper-based blending tool (home-made). Lastly, I used my big white eraser to lighten areas, and then went around the eraser marks lightly with the mechanical pencil. After signing it using a Sharpie, I added the title and copyright text on the computer using Windows Paint.
