Nicholas x Shine: The Sky
Title can't be empty.
Title can't be empty.
Now we get to one of the really interesting parts.

The Sky
A few days later found Shine heading towards Nicholas’s place. The vixen after coming back had been thinking things over. Now her mind was made up and knew there was only one way to quiet all these thoughts and questions she had been having ever since that visit to that temple. The vixen made it and rang the buzzer. “Yeah?” came his voice on the communicator by the door.
“It’s me,” the female replied and the entrance to it was unlocked.
“Come on up.”
Shine went in, a bit nervous since she had never been at the fosky’s place. While there were the things that had been on her mind, the feelings of loving him were now at the front. The vixen swallowed her nerves as a bit of a scenario began to play in her head. The vixen made it to the door. She found it unlocked and opened it. “Nicholas?” she called.
“In here,” came the male’s reply. Shine walked into the living room and saw it was similar to her place and was nice. The fosky looked up from the couch with a smile.

“Hey there Shine,” he said. “Can I get you anything to drink or something?”
“Um… I’m good thanks,” the vixen replied, blushing a little as it was for him. She took a seat on a chair next to the coffee table. She also saw the staff taken from Ish was here to. Nicholas had decided to keep it with him for now and the vixen had agreed to it.
“So then, why did you come over?” She had told him about needing this visit on the phone. The guy had needed a few days to make sure the place was clean for her.
“We need to talk. After what happened at that temple… I feel I can no longer remain here. Ish said everything would be alright even though I’m remembering more of my past life as her. She said as long as I had you it would be and how you would be able to help me.”
“She’s right,” Nicholas replied. “I guess it’s time. Or at least to prepare for heading out.”
“Heading out where?”
“To where I originally came from. I may or may not have told you but like you I’m from a different place. But instead of talking about it, I think it might be better to take you there.”
“Really?” the vixen asked.
“I’m serious here,” he replied. “Haven’t you always wanted to see it? I certainly have wanted to show you.”
“I would love that!”
“Not so fast though. There is a catch to this. As you heard from Ish, she said you can never go back to your old life now that you have learned you’re reincarnated from her. However I should tell you once you’ve decided on this path to come with me, there will be no going back. No matter how long it takes, you can’t change your mind. Which is why if you want to… this is your last chance.”
Shine went silent for a moment. “No, I’ve made my choice,” the vixen replied. “I’ve already decided to quit my job. Now that I know about this there’s nothing for me here.”
“Alright,” the fosky replied. “Then here’s what we need to do…”
It took two months for the vixen to get rid of her things and move completely out of her place. Nicholas was like that as well. It still flew by quickly. While those at her job were sad to see Shine go, they understood she wanted to quit and so waved farewell to the female. With Nicholas, the female felt this was the right choice to make. Then at last the day came to leave. She had some luggage with her. The fosky assured her that at this place Shine would be living permanently there were more clothes along with essentials that could be bought there. The day of found her at his place. The vixen woke up and felt excited but nervous at the same time. Getting dressed, the two were actually quiet as they ate the last bit of food in his apartment. When the last bites were consumed, Nicholas stood up. “Well I guess it’s time to head out. Ready?”
“As I’ll ever be,” she replied.
“Good. Now one more thing.” The fosky disappeared and returned with Ish’s staff in its sealed form. But instead of holding onto it, the guy handed it to Shine. “Here, she did say to take it.”
The vixen looked at it in her paws after taking the weapon. “I can’t take this,” she replied.
“The materials it’s made of are the kind that will mean it will never rust, dull, or break. I’ll tell you how I know this when we arrive at my home.”
“But still what happened in that temple… I did it on instinct. I couldn’t do it again even if you asked me. I’ve never used a weapon before in my life even if I’m reincarnated from Ish.”
“I know that but it won’t be a problem,” Nicholas said. “However when you do, just remember what was said by this wise person. True courage is knowing about not when to take a life, but to spare one.”
The female had no response to that. But those words echoed in her mind. She remembered a moment in Ish’s life when that was said by the male who would become her husband. There was a strap for the staff so it could go on her back. The vixen did so and made her way outside. Nicholas took care of the luggage which made her smile at him. They got a ride and made their way out near the beach where he had kissed her on the forehead. However they two got out of the car which got the female confused. There weren’t any hotels nearby. After the car drove off, the fosky looked at her with a smile. “It’s okay Shine. There’s a reason we’re here. I just hope nobody followed us.”
“You mean… Like those guys that attacked us at the temple?” the female asked.
“Yeah, them.”
“What are they even?’
“They’re a group of individuals calling themselves the Yuga Clan. It was them who were responsible for the scar on my chin when trying to get that key that got us into the inner parts of that temple. Other than that, it wasn’t a problem.”
“How could he just walk away from it like it was nothing?” she wondered in her head. “I mean I remember seeing him fight but still… just who or what is he really?”
“Come on,” Nicholas said and grabbed most of the luggage. A bit of it Shine still had to grab. The fosky led the vixen to the rock wall.
“Now what?” the female asked.
“Keep an eye out to make sure nobody is here.” Shine shrugged but took a look.
“There’s no one.”
Nicholas pressed his right paw against a section and a section of the wall moved to reveal a tunnel. Shine looked down it. “Has this always been here?”
“Yes. Now you see why I said to keep a lookout.” The two grabbed the luggage and stepped in. The wall closed behind them.

As soon as it did colored lights from the walls turned on that were green in color. But there was something about these that made Shine think they weren’t electrical but a magical kind. She noticed writing on the wall, an ancient looking one. “I know you have questions, but they need to wait,” Nicholas stated as though reading her mind. “I promise unless it’s life threatening I will answer. But they must wait until we get to my home.”
“And where is it; underground?” Shine asked with a giggle.
“No, but something far more wondrous. Now come.” The fosky led the way down the tunnel. Luckily it wasn’t that much farther until the two reached a big circular room. Stalactites and stalagmites were surrounding the area and the glow was still here. In the center was a circle of stone that was cracked in places.
“Does anyone know of this?” she asked. “And how will this get to where you live?”
“Only those who know about the passage there,” Nicholas replied. “Even instruments and machines can’t find it since it was built to be undetectable except to certain people. As for getting to where I live… All we have to do is step on the circle.”
“I’m not sure…” the vixen said. She felt the fosky give her a reassuring hug.
“Now’s not the time to turn back,” he stated. “You’ve come too far now. Just come with me and close your eyes.” Shine nodded and hugged him back. The two got all the luggage on. The vixen placed her head on the fosky, her eyes closed. The next thing the female felt was the feeling of traveling, the sound of wind in her ears.
In a few second the female felt more wind and the feeling of the sun on her fur. She slowly opened her eyes and almost fainted at the sight. The vixen felt weak and grabbed Nicholas’s strong left arm. What Shine saw was that they were on top of an actual cloud. It was square shaped and others surrounding them. Looking saw more regular clouds below them and how high they were up. The vixen let out a whimper of fear and closed her eyes again. “Am… I dead…?” she whispered. “What the hell is this?!”
Nicholas just hugged the female, holding her tight. His presence, holding her like that made Shine calm down. “You’re not dead,” he replied, and the two pulled back with her still holding onto his left arm. “Think back when you were Ish. How did she feel when coming her for the first time?”
The vixen did and found that the priestess had when her husband brought her here. That’s when a thought struck Shine. “Wait… how did you know she came here?” Shine asked. “How do you know so much? You’re not a normal specie, are you?”
“When we get there I will say,” he replied. “But I can tell you where we are and also say that you are right I’m not normal. This… This is the Great Sky Plains.” Shine looked out at this. Now that she was over her shock a feeling of familiarity and excitement along with a feeling of belonging here came up. “My home is up a bit higher. But how we’re standing on these clouds is that these… aren’t normal. It’s a spell, yes, an actual magical spell that is making it possible for us to walk on these clouds. But only these. If we try a normal one, it won’t work. And another thing is that unless one goes through the transport tube as we have, they won’t see it or run into it. In other words people in the sky and in planes right now won’t see us and go right through us. It’s a long story of why which will be explained when we get to my home in the sky. The wind city of Loft Ereborn.”
That name again stirred a sound of knowing in Shine. She figured it must have been where Ish’s husband had come from and where he like Nicholas was with her, took the priestess to. The vixen then saw the hole she and the fosky had come through and could see just below the outline of the circle. Then she noticed something else. “Wait... I feel different.”
“Different how?” Nicholas asked.
“I feel… younger,” the vixen replied, examining her paws. “It feels strange. But I swear… it feels like some years have been taken off of me. Like I’m 18 again.”
“So you’ve also noticed that to huh? Keep that thought in mind when we get to Loft Ereborn. Now then, let’s move.”
Shine then realized she had been holding his arm the whole time and let go quickly, blushing hard. “Sorry!” she whispered. “I’m…”
He smiled and shook his head. “No you’re not,” Nicholas replied softly. “And I never said you could stop.”
The vixen couldn’t help but kiss him on the cheek in thanks and took that arm again. The two grabbed the luggage and they went towards the center of this area. Nicholas stopped though, causing her to as well. “What is it?” Shine asked.
“Aw shit,” he groaned. “The tube that will led up is blocked by clouds. We can’t go up.”
The vixen did look that way and saw it. There was a landmass above her, a little smaller than the size of New York City. “Is that it?”
“Mhmm. But first we need to get that second tunnel open. Leave the luggage here but keep the staff with you.”
Once dropping it off, the male took the female to the edge and had her let go. “Now I’m warning you ahead of time that what I’m about to do isn’t crazy, but needed,” Nicholas explained. “I won’t tell you how I’m doing it as that will also be for another time.”
Shine watched in shock as she saw him step off the cloud like platform and walk on the air itself. “Wha… are you…?” she gasped.
“Yes,” he replied and held out both his paws. “Want to try? I promise nothing bad will happen.”
The vixen couldn’t help but trust the fosky she loved with all her heart and reached out, his paws and hers coming together. In that moment she felt something pass in her. The female took two steps out and found she took could walk on air. Shine knew she wasn’t dreaming even though all of this was unbelievable. The two walked to the next section with her holding onto his left arm again. Both were smiling and blushing but knew this was just the next step before finally come together as a couple. But Nicholas had to wait just a little longer as it wasn’t the right time yet. But it would becoming very soon. They reached the next section and Nicholas looked over and smiled. “Aha!” he exclaimed. “Here’s the problem right here!”
He went over to some kind of square shaped cloud that jutted up from the surface the two were on. There was a button on it. Pushing it caused some of the clouds blocking the tube to move and could be seen from where they were. The vixen and fosky went to each of these in which there were six more. Looking back at the area to go up, they saw it was cleared of the clouds and similar to what had been used before. Nicholas and Shine were soon back. “Alright… this is it,” he said. “You ready?”
“For better or for worse, yes,” she replied. The fosky and vixen stepped on the circle with the luggage. This time she kept her eyes open and saw wind pushing them up towards the land mass. The female was truly ready for whatever was up there.
