Nicholas x Shine: Training
So just one chapter this month, but next one there will be two.

Shine got a good night’s sleep and was woken by Nicholas. “Morning,” he said with a smile. “Ready to start?”
“As I’ll ever be,” the vixen replied. “What should I wear for this?”
“I’d say some workout clothes, but nothing too sexy.” Shine blushed but nodded and rose from her bed. The fosky left so the female could get ready. She choose a top that while it left her stomach exposed, not much of her bust was shown. The pants were almost like shorts and fit her shapely legs and ass well.
They had a light breakfast since exercise would be happening soon. The male told her that there would be food there. They then walked out of the house with Ish’s staff on the vixen’s back. They took the usual shortcut but when reaching the main path, the fosky took a right before the entrance came up and led the vixen a different way. Shine began to notice the path took on a mountain like quality. “Wait, how could there be a mountain here?” she commented to Nicholas. “We’re floating in the air I know, but there shouldn’t be one.”
“Well it’s not,” he replied. “You’ll be told why soon.”
The guy and female kept walking and she saw pillars on either side with flowering vines on them. There were other plants as well with a feeling she realty was heading up a mountain to a sacred training site or temple. This became even stronger when there came some stairs made of stone they had to climb up. Soon they went over the last one and Shine saw a stadium that appeared to be made out of wood and stone. Next to this were some training fields, some of which were right by some flowing bodies of water. There were even a couple of waterfalls as well and wooden bridges over them. There was an elderly male red panda on one of them and he was busy practicing with two swords. Like Nicholas, he had wings, but these were colors that matched his fur.
Shine didn’t say anything yet as Nicholas took her up to the elder male. The guy saw them but quickly finished his practice and placed both swords under one arm. “Master Dionsio,” the fosky said and bowed respectively to the red panda.
“Welcome both of you,” the second male said in an accent that was from the Philippines and shook paws with Shine as well. “Especially to you young Shine. Welcome to our mountain quarters.”
“Thank you,” the vixen replied. “It’s quiet a beautiful place even if it’s not a mountain.”
“Thank you. It’s made to be peaceful and quiet. Quicker, faster training here. But you should be very careful. You’re going to sweat it out.”
“Well I do like a good workout,” Shine replied with a grin.
The three then walked to one of the training fields that had pillars and arches. The sky could be seen through the spaces. The vixen felt an exciting feeling building up in here that was due to the memories of being the priestess Ish. “Now before we begin, you have the staff?”
“Yes,” the vixen replied and handed it over. The elder red panda took it and brought the spikes out. The male spun the weapon around in his paws and began to test the capabilities of the weapon. Shine’s jaw dropped in amazement at how this older male was still able to move at such an old age. The guy came down with a strike of the staff and nodded.
“Perfectly balanced and still strong,” Disonsio said. “As much as it was the day it was forged. And that was quiet a long time ago.” The staff was given back to the vixen. “Now then, you may put that weapon to the side for now. Nicholas, tell me how you two came by it.”
While the vixen did, the fosky told a quick summary what had happened in that temple. “In short, she acted on instinct with wielding the staff. If you asked he to do it, she couldn’t do it.”
“Not a problem,” the red panda replied. “We’ll need to test her anyways.”
“Test me with what?” Shine asked.
“We’ll need to see what you can do naturally,” Nicholas explained. “Once we do, we’ll know where to begin with your training. To start, what do you do when you go to the gym?”
“I work on the treadmill, and workout the legs mostly but some of the arm.”

“Okay,” Disonsio commented. “Now warm up with stretches. Just do the ones I tell you to do as best as you can.” He began and Shine did, focused on the stretches, but wondering if Nicholas was watching her. Especially with trying to touch her toes and sticking her ass out. Or stretching her legs. The fosky couldn’t help but glance all the time at her. He liked what he saw and that made the male even more determined to tell the vixen soon. The vixen felt his eyes on her and smiled with a soft purring sound. It wasn’t like a cat’s purr, but one a fox could make.
The stretches were then finished. “It seems you can do a number of stretches and poses without hurting or exerting yourself,” the red panda said. “That’s good.” He then took the other two to an obstacle like course. There were ropes, a swaying bridge, and other obstacles. There were also points on this to punch, kick, or lift stuff. “Your next goal is to go through this as fast as you can. At the points of lifting do what you can and the others do it as hard as you can so we know how strong you are.”
“You’ll do fine,” Nicholas told her seeing the worried look on the vixen’s face. “I told Master Disonsio how you’re new to this, so the course is perfect for someone like you. While a child couldn’t do this since they’re given a much smaller, easier course, this should be fine for a fit 18-year-old.”
“Okay,” the vixen replied, feeling confident. The fosky gave the signal and she began. Shine found this to be fun and a bit of a challenge. There were certain points of having to dodge things that were shot at her. A few found their mark, but the female was able to duck most of them. The lifting, punching, and kicking were not a problem at all. The second and third thing had easy targets to hit while the first had weights that she could do easily even if there were some that were obviously too heavy. Shine had good judgment not to show off, but do what she could. The vixen finished in a time that was pretty good.
“Now then, let’s take a breather,” Disonsio said and took the two back to the training field from before. “You two wait here, I’m going to go grab someone.”
They watched him head off. “He’s really nice,” Shine commented.
“Yeah,” Nicholas replied. “But don’t let his looks fool you. He’s quite strong. Now then.” He went to the side and rummaged around a bit before bringing up two staves that were made of bamboo and light. “Catch!”
He threw one at the vixen who caught it on instinct. “What now?” she asked.
“While he’s gone, I’m going to start by teaching you some of the basics of the staff and things to keep in mind. Since you have the staff of Ish, learning how to wield it this way makes sense. It’s what I had to learn how to wield my chosen weapon. Now then, this weapon has greater range than a sword, and more power than some other weapons. The secret behind the staff is that not only can it strike at multiple opponents and angles, it can become an extension of the warrior themselves. This is all done by how it’s wielded in circles. That lets it become a weapon and shield at the same time by forming a whirling barrier around the person wielding it. In addition, this weapon is going to help you learn how to wield a weapon with your non-dominate paw.”
“Now then, I’ll show you how to hold it right, and the proper stance.” Nicholas took his staff and got in a beginning pose. Shine tried to copy him and needed some slight adjustments. Her heart skipped a beat when feeling his paw on hers to get them in the right area. “Alright, now let’s begin. First let’s warm up your arms by doing figure eights.”
He began to do the motion with both paws and the vixen copied. The guy then did it with his right paw and the female did the same thing. That was her dominate paw. Then the two switched to the left paw. It was harder for Shine, but she did her best. “Okay. Now, the first move we’ll do is the strike.”
Nicholas demonstrated and did it a few times. The vixen was able to get it down. “Now we’ll do more strikes at different angles.” The two did so from the other side, up and down, and side to side, using both ends. “Good! Next is the thrust. While this can be done with both ends, make sure to move before doing so.” Some were done and the female had it good. “Okay, now a spin. At certain points, try to spin the staff around your paws to get more power.”
Shine did drop her weapon a few times doing this, but soon managed to get the hang of it. She had memories of Ish doing this exact same thing with her future husband Katar Hol. Then came the blocking by using the staff in a sweeping motion. Then came practicing of spinning the staff around. “Alright!” Nicholas stated with a grin. “Basic lessons are over!”

“I think I’ve got the hang of it!” the vixen stated.
“Maybe. But don’t let your guard down for any opponent. Make sure to practice as much as you can. You’ll learn more combos and advanced techniques latter on. These will do for now.”
“I see you’ve got her warmed up,” went a different female voice. The fosky and Shine turned to look and saw Disonsio had returned. There was a female red panda with him with pink wings. Her black hair was tied back and was quiet the looker.
“I should’ve known that you would come here Hotaru,” Nicholas commented.
“She’s the perfect partner for Shine to learn,” the elder red panda said.
“Wait, I won’t be practicing with you?” the vixen asked the fosky.
“I’m sorry but… at your current level, if I not careful, I could seriously injury you or worst even kill. I don’t want that to happen. But don’t worry. There’s another part of your training that I’ll help with. Hotaru might be stronger than you, but she’s not as much as me. She’s a perfect match up.”
“Before that, you can have a rest with lunch,” the younger female red panda said. The vixen realized that it was time to eat and surprised how fast the morning had gone by.
The time consuming the food was pleasant and a few questions were asked to Shine, but most of them were done to Nicholas. The group then had to wait for the food to digest. Once it was done, Hotaru took up her staff and took a ready pose in front of the vixen. “Defend yourself!” the red panda female stated.

Shine looked in surprised, not expecting it to come this quickly. She got her staff in her paws and took a ready position. The two faced each other for a moment before the first female charged in. The vixen tried to block the strike by using one of the moves taught to her by Nicholas but was too slow. She yelped as Hotaru struck her on the ribs and stumbled backward. Without thinking, Shine lunged forward, but the red panda easily parried the blow. The vixen whipped her staff towards her opponent’s head, twisting it at the last moment and tried to hit her side. The solid smack of the two was heard and the impact jarred Shine’s arms. “Improvisation; good!” Hotaru said, her eyes gleaming.
The red panda’s arms became a blur and there was an explosion of pain on the side of the vixen’s head. She collapsed to the ground, knocked out. A splash of cold water made her come to. Nicholas had taken some from one of the bodies of water and used it on her. “That was quiet the hit to you,” he said.
“She didn’t have to do that!” Shine insisted, looking at the red panda then back to him. “Why are you making her do this?”
“Because it’s needed. Ish went through this exact same training as you are.”
“And a real enemy wouldn’t soften their blows and neither will I,” Hotaru said to Shine. “Besides if this would kill you, we wouldn’t be doing it. Now stand up.”
The vixen did, but shook her head. “Forget it. I’ve had enough.” She turned around only to feel the smack on her back which caused her to stumble. Shine whipped around, her teeth in a snarl. Shine normally never got angry but she was pissed now.
“NEVER TURN YOUR BACK ON THE ENEMY!” the other three here all shouted.
Hotaru came in and the vixen was given an onslaught. “Keep your knees bent; move your feet!” the female red panda snapped. She continued to give instructions, stopping sometimes to show the vixen on how to do a move. Shine was a quick learner, but no matter what she did, she couldn’t touch the other female or hold her off for more than a few blows.

It was becoming the evening when they stopped. Shine flopped to the ground and groaned. She hurt everywhere and bruises had begun to form on her body. “Come on, we’ve done enough for one day,” Nicholas said and gently got the female in his arms. She was able to notice he was strong enough to carry her easily and that it felt nice. He grabbed Ish’s staff and took off on his wings. He soon had the two at his house. The male took the vixen to her room and got the water for the bath running. “I think I can get in myself,” she told him.
“If you say so.” He then left the room. Shine had some difficulty but was able to get all her clothes off. She slid into the water which felt so good. She began to then notice her aches, pains, and bruises were going away.
“What’s with this water?!” she exclaimed. “I’m actually healing! This is sweet!”
When coming back to Nicholas, he explained that her bath water had healing properties for minor injuries and bruises like what the female had gotten. The dinner that night was for muscle building and repairing but also some heathy things. Shine devoured what was laid out in front of her and slept well. The next morning, she was woken up again by Nicholas. “Don’t worry,” he said, seeing the female’s worried look. “We won’t start with a workout like yesterday.”

The two made it in their workout clothes but this time the male took her to a section that had a pool with some dull green colored water in it. It wasn’t a nasty color, but something different. “Now we’ll start the part of teaching you how to use magic,” the male explained. “Now even though you weren’t born here, every specie in the modern world has access to it. They just don’t know how to get at it. First have you heard about Chi and Spirit Energy?” The vixen nodded. “Well those two energies are actually one and the same that is used for the magic. Since you weren’t born here, you’ll need help feeling and sensing it. That’s what this liquid is used for. For this first part we’ll use it to help you detect it in your body. Once you’ve got the hang of it, we’ll stop using it.”
The fosky took some of the liquid and placed it on top of Shine’s right paw. She felt a tingling sensation in her body that felt like power. The male smiled and could tell by the look on her face the vixen felt it. “Now that you know what it feels like, we’ll determine what element you naturally are associated with. We’ll find out by these,” He pulled out some slips of paper colored tan from his pants pocket. “These are litmus paper that reacts to energy of a person. Focus your energy into it and depending on how it reacts will determine what your element is. For example, if it burns away you’re fire. If it crumbles, you’re earth. Freezing is ice, ripping is wind, soggy is water, petrifying is stone, turning black is shadow, and shining is light.”
Shine somehow knew what to do and focused her energy into the paper. It glowed white and the two knew what she was. “Looks like yours is light,” the fosky stated. “The same as Ish. It makes sense since those associated with light are usually kind and gentle. While I know you can be naughty, you’re not nearly enough to be say shadow. Also your personality isn’t close enough to be wind.”
He then began to teach her the mechanics of magic in general and what those with light could do. They could heal injuries and create barriers. While it could counteract shadow, there were certain parts of it that light was weak against. Beams of light could be used to form attacks that could cut through things and there were other aspects that Shine wouldn’t learn since her level was at level one. After lunch, she saw Hotaru come up with both staves. “Not again…” Shine groaned, seeing this.
“It’s part of the training,” Nicholas said. “You practice magic in the morning and fight in the afternoon.” The red panda smiled and tossed the vixen’s staff to her.

The days went by and soon the vixen had already been doing this for three weeks. Progress had been made and almost without Shine realizing it. Her skill with magic got stronger and she learned more and more powerful abilities. During her sparring sessions, the vixen gained speed, confidence, and strength. Her arms no longer trembled when she warded off attacks, and the blows became heavier. The clashes with Hotaru lasted longer and when finished, both of them got banged up and bruised.
Before the fourth week started, almost a month before the training had begun, Nicholas took her to where the rulers were. They brought Ish’s staff with them. The vixen didn’t carry it on her back, but the practice one used with the red panda. Shine was allowed this day off since the visit was important. They were living at their own place and the two young species were directed inside. It was like the house they lived at, but smaller. They went into a pallor like room where the rulers were waiting. The queen was a female arctic fox while the king was a grey wolf. Both had wrinkles which showed their age, but their eyes still had fire and strength in them. Their clothes hinted at royalty.
“Nicholas and Shine, welcome,” the lupine stated. “I am Ajihad and this is Natasha.”
“We’ve hopped you’ve enjoyed our city Shine,” the arctic fox commented.
“I have, thank you.” The four began to talk about the blonde vixen, how the staff had been found, and the training up till now. The rulers thought she would fit perfectly in this city. To themselves they also thought a good vixen for Nicholas as a future ruler. The older species could see the love between the fosky and Shine, even if nothing had been said yet. When the conversation was over, it was back to the house for the young ones. But what none of them knew was what was going to happen to them and the relationship they had at the end of the month.

“Because it’s needed. Ish went through this exact same training as you are.”
“And a real enemy wouldn’t soften their blows and neither will I,” Hotaru said to Shine. “Besides if this would kill you, we wouldn’t be doing it. Now stand up.”
The vixen did, but shook her head. “Forget it. I’ve had enough.” She turned around only to feel the smack on her back which caused her to stumble. Shine whipped around, her teeth in a snarl. Shine normally never got angry but she was pissed now.
“NEVER TURN YOUR BACK ON THE ENEMY!” the other three here all shouted.
Hotaru came in and the vixen was given an onslaught. “Keep your knees bent; move your feet!” the female red panda snapped. She continued to give instructions, stopping sometimes to show the vixen on how to do a move. Shine was a quick learner, but no matter what she did, she couldn’t touch the other female or hold her off for more than a few blows.

It was becoming the evening when they stopped. Shine flopped to the ground and groaned. She hurt everywhere and bruises had begun to form on her body. “Come on, we’ve done enough for one day,” Nicholas said and gently got the female in his arms. She was able to notice he was strong enough to carry her easily and that it felt nice. He grabbed Ish’s staff and took off on his wings. He soon had the two at his house. The male took the vixen to her room and got the water for the bath running. “I think I can get in myself,” she told him.
“If you say so.” He then left the room. Shine had some difficulty but was able to get all her clothes off. She slid into the water which felt so good. She began to then notice her aches, pains, and bruises were going away.
“What’s with this water?!” she exclaimed. “I’m actually healing! This is sweet!”
When coming back to Nicholas, he explained that her bath water had healing properties for minor injuries and bruises like what the female had gotten. The dinner that night was for muscle building and repairing but also some heathy things. Shine devoured what was laid out in front of her and slept well. The next morning, she was woken up again by Nicholas. “Don’t worry,” he said, seeing the female’s worried look. “We won’t start with a workout like yesterday.”

The two made it in their workout clothes but this time the male took her to a section that had a pool with some dull green colored water in it. It wasn’t a nasty color, but something different. “Now we’ll start the part of teaching you how to use magic,” the male explained. “Now even though you weren’t born here, every specie in the modern world has access to it. They just don’t know how to get at it. First have you heard about Chi and Spirit Energy?” The vixen nodded. “Well those two energies are actually one and the same that is used for the magic. Since you weren’t born here, you’ll need help feeling and sensing it. That’s what this liquid is used for. For this first part we’ll use it to help you detect it in your body. Once you’ve got the hang of it, we’ll stop using it.”
The fosky took some of the liquid and placed it on top of Shine’s right paw. She felt a tingling sensation in her body that felt like power. The male smiled and could tell by the look on her face the vixen felt it. “Now that you know what it feels like, we’ll determine what element you naturally are associated with. We’ll find out by these,” He pulled out some slips of paper colored tan from his pants pocket. “These are litmus paper that reacts to energy of a person. Focus your energy into it and depending on how it reacts will determine what your element is. For example, if it burns away you’re fire. If it crumbles, you’re earth. Freezing is ice, ripping is wind, soggy is water, petrifying is stone, turning black is shadow, and shining is light.”
Shine somehow knew what to do and focused her energy into the paper. It glowed white and the two knew what she was. “Looks like yours is light,” the fosky stated. “The same as Ish. It makes sense since those associated with light are usually kind and gentle. While I know you can be naughty, you’re not nearly enough to be say shadow. Also your personality isn’t close enough to be wind.”
He then began to teach her the mechanics of magic in general and what those with light could do. They could heal injuries and create barriers. While it could counteract shadow, there were certain parts of it that light was weak against. Beams of light could be used to form attacks that could cut through things and there were other aspects that Shine wouldn’t learn since her level was at level one. After lunch, she saw Hotaru come up with both staves. “Not again…” Shine groaned, seeing this.
“It’s part of the training,” Nicholas said. “You practice magic in the morning and fight in the afternoon.” The red panda smiled and tossed the vixen’s staff to her.

The days went by and soon the vixen had already been doing this for three weeks. Progress had been made and almost without Shine realizing it. Her skill with magic got stronger and she learned more and more powerful abilities. During her sparring sessions, the vixen gained speed, confidence, and strength. Her arms no longer trembled when she warded off attacks, and the blows became heavier. The clashes with Hotaru lasted longer and when finished, both of them got banged up and bruised.
Before the fourth week started, almost a month before the training had begun, Nicholas took her to where the rulers were. They brought Ish’s staff with them. The vixen didn’t carry it on her back, but the practice one used with the red panda. Shine was allowed this day off since the visit was important. They were living at their own place and the two young species were directed inside. It was like the house they lived at, but smaller. They went into a pallor like room where the rulers were waiting. The queen was a female arctic fox while the king was a grey wolf. Both had wrinkles which showed their age, but their eyes still had fire and strength in them. Their clothes hinted at royalty.
“Nicholas and Shine, welcome,” the lupine stated. “I am Ajihad and this is Natasha.”
“We’ve hopped you’ve enjoyed our city Shine,” the arctic fox commented.
“I have, thank you.” The four began to talk about the blonde vixen, how the staff had been found, and the training up till now. The rulers thought she would fit perfectly in this city. To themselves they also thought a good vixen for Nicholas as a future ruler. The older species could see the love between the fosky and Shine, even if nothing had been said yet. When the conversation was over, it was back to the house for the young ones. But what none of them knew was what was going to happen to them and the relationship they had at the end of the month.
