They all do this together in the Mervin factory since 1977. The climate is a priority. All boards are made with environmentally friendly materials and the snowboards is completely recyclable as one of the very few snowboard brands in the world. In this factory, the Lib Tech and Roxy snowboard are also made.

Construction of a Gnu board
At Gnu they work with 3 different base shapes and some boards are Asymmetrical, aptly named “Asym”.
- Original Banana shape
With rocker between your feet and a small camber outside your feet, this allows for a natural way of turning and good grip on the edge between your bindings. Additionally, the Rocker shape also provides a lot of float and a surf feel in powder snow. The piece of camber outside the bindings provides pop and control.
- C2 “The perfect hybrid”
Made for "normal snowboarding." This C2 shape has more camber outside the bindings than a Banana shape. This provides more precision, grip, pop, and control while riding. The piece of rocker between the bindings allows for natural turning ability. This C2 comes in a variant with more camber, the C2X, and a mild variant, the C2E.
- C3 “The world’s best camber”
Designed for the real work. With the C3 camber shape you have a small rocker between your feet. However, it has extremely more camber outside the bindings than a C2 or banana shape. This gives you more grip, pop, and stability. If you’re not afraid of a challenge, definitely check out the C3 boards from Gnu.
Asymmetrical Gnu snowboards
A long time ago in a board meeting with many snowboarders, it was determined that every human body is different. What does this have to do with snowboarding? Well, your backside (heel) turn is different than your frontside (toe) turn. This has to do with the pressure you can put and how your body bends. The asymmetrical snowboards from Gnu therefore have a different radius on the backside than on the frontside. Every turn feels perfect with a Gnu Asym snowboard.
Gnu Snowboard Techniques
In addition to the above shapes and the Asymmetrical story, there are of course more beautiful pieces of technology in the snowboards from Gnu. One of the most famous is of course Magna Traction; these serrated edge-like steel edges provide more contact points with the snow, 7 in total instead of the 2 you would expect with a traditional camber. This gives you more grip on ice and hard pistes and a better feeling of grip because the board also makes contact earlier at the bindings. You might also know this technique from the Lib-Tech snowboards.

Gnu Essential Service
This season, the Gnu Mullair will no longer be in the collection. Due to circumstances, Nicolas is no longer a team rider for the brand. The Mullair will now be called the Gnu Essential Service. It is still a Freeride snowboard with a C3 camber and a tapered tail.
