Silver Efex Pro 2.003
A photo-editor plug-in for performing fine adjustments on b&w photos
Program info
Silver Efex Pro is a plug-in for photo editors that will help you make fine adjustments on black and white photographs. The host applications for this plug-in are Adobe Photoshop CS3 through CS5, Elements 6 through 10, Lightroom 2.6 through 3.0 or later versions, and Apple Aperture 2.1.4 through 3.0, and later.
The plug-in is intuitive in its use and offers several options for processing black and white images. The global adjustments include brightness, contrast, structure and tonality protection. Other options allow you to modify color filters, adjusting grain, sensitivity, levels and curves, and others. The program also gives you the possibility to preset adjustments, by selecting them out of three categories of styles: modern, classic and vintage.
Another very important and appreciable feature of this application is that it enables you to set control points, so that you may adjust brightness, contrast, and structure in selected areas of the photograph, without affecting other areas with these modifications. This is made possible as a result of implementing the U Point technology, and it ensures the photo editing process is highly flexible.
In conclusion, this plug-in brilliantly demonstrates how a sufficiently comprehensive set of editing options helps you obtain an amazing variance in quality between two instances of the same black and white photograph.

I am still using Nikon's Capture NX 2 (or NX studio), who has develop the U Point Technology (Control Point), and is surprised that Silver Efex Pro 2 is using it too.
When I use it, it feels if I am "working" again in a Darkroom.
