Virgo: St. Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274) was an intellectual theologian whose doctrines became part of the canon of the Catholic Church, second in importance only to the Bible. But the Church has ignored and disavowed Aurora Consurgens, the work Aquinas reputedly wrote near the end of his life after having mystical visions of the Goddess. "All that I have written seems to me like so much straw," he reported, "compared to what I have seen and what has been revealed to me." Your assignment, Virgo, is to carry out your personal equivalent of what the Catholic Church hasn't been able to do. In other words, integrate the raw wisdom from your past that you've been unable or hesitant to acknowledge.
I can't think of any applications for this week's horoscope other than the fact that I've had "Over The Mountains To The Sea" stuck in my head since I heard it about two weeks ago. It was a song that I sang often when I was the lead singer of a contemporary Christian praise and worship band. Yep. Back in the day, y'all. We actually almost got signed after I sang at some huge conference led by Dawson McAllister, but by that time, my beliefs were starting to change, so I turned the Christian label down. At any rate, I did love singing most of the praise songs, because in a way, they were pure. My favorites were love songs to God, pure and simple. No dogma, no proseletyzing-- just me and God. And I first felt that singing in church, even when I couldn't connect to God in the contemporary Christian scope. But when you're just singing to God, what God is or isn't doesn't matter so much. The religion-specific words don't even necessarily matter so much-- just the feeling behind it, the feeling you get. I know some parts of the Pagan community tends to have strong knee-jerk anti-Christian sentiments, but though at times I've disagreed with the church and the ways in which they've portrayed Christ's message, I never have. Some of the most wonderful, joyful, generous people I know are Christians, and there's a lot I can learn from them.

And finally, brief BattleStar Galactica thoughts through "Resurrection Ship: Part II". ( Geekery.Collapse )
I want to get some BSG icons and join a few BSG communities, but being only halfway through S2, I'm being spoilerphobic. Rec me some good ones, please, to join once I'm caught up.
