The Devil Wears Prada 2, the sequel twenty years in the making, made $77 million at the domestic box office this weekend and $156.6 million overseas, for a total of $233.6 million in its opening weekend. This is nearly triple the original film's opening weekend in 2006, but the budget for that one was $40 million while the budget for the sequel is $100 million. That is already proving to be money very well spent for Disney in one weekend's time - the film has the fourth biggest opening of 2026. Reviews were mixed, but audiences gave it an A- Cinemascore.
Michael had very strong legs in its second weekend, falling just 44% for a take of $54 million. It has made $183.8 million domestic and $423 million worldwide.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie ended up in third place with $12.1 million in its fourth weekend of release, bringing its domestic gross to $402.67 million and more than $900 million worldwide.
In fourth place was
Project Hail Mary, taking in $8.5 million in its seventh weekend of release. To date, it has brought in $318 million domestic and $638.4 million worldwide.
New Neon horror film
Hokum rounded out the top five with $6.4 million from 1800+ theaters. The Ireland-set, Adam Scott-starring film earned a B Cinemascore grade, which is excellent for a horror film.
The Angel Studios production of
Animal Farm, which garnered terrible reviews and a C- Cinemascore, made $3.3 million, which was good for sixth place.
