Thursday's just a tease.

Virgo: St. Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274) was an intellectual theologian whose doctrines became part of the canon of the Catholic Church, second in importance only to the Bible. But the Church has ignored and disavowed Aurora Consurgens, the work Aquinas reputedly wrote near the end of his life after having mystical visions of the Goddess. "All that I have written seems to me like so much straw," he reported, "compared to what I have seen and what has been revealed to me." Your assignment, Virgo, is to carry out your personal equivalent of what the Catholic Church hasn't been able to do. In other words, integrate the raw wisdom from your past that you've been unable or hesitant to acknowledge.

I can't think of any applications for this week's horoscope other than the fact that I've had "Over The Mountains To The Sea" stuck in my head since I heard it about two weeks ago. It was a song that I sang often when I was the lead singer of a contemporary Christian praise and worship band. Yep. Back in the day, y'all. We actually almost got signed after I sang at some huge conference led by Dawson McAllister, but by that time, my beliefs were starting to change, so I turned the Christian label down. At any rate, I did love singing most of the praise songs, because in a way, they were pure. My favorites were love songs to God, pure and simple. No dogma, no proseletyzing-- just me and God. And I first felt that singing in church, even when I couldn't connect to God in the contemporary Christian scope. But when you're just singing to God, what God is or isn't doesn't matter so much. The religion-specific words don't even necessarily matter so much-- just the feeling behind it, the feeling you get. I know some parts of the Pagan community tends to have strong knee-jerk anti-Christian sentiments, but though at times I've disagreed with the church and the ways in which they've portrayed Christ's message, I never have. Some of the most wonderful, joyful, generous people I know are Christians, and there's a lot I can learn from them.

Last night was good. I got home, made myself a big breakfast for dinner with scrambled eggs, cinnamon toast, and vegetarian sausage. I watched Pretty and Pink and discovered that my secret pervy James Spader crush goes beyond Secretary. There was the Skinny Bitch Show (aka-- ANTM), in which none of my favorite contestants were voted off. Even Lost didn't suck so hard last night. At any rate, I had much of the evening blissfully to myself, because a Christina with too little me time is a very cranky Christina indeed.

I finished the two pairs of earrings for my co-worker's anniversary, and he's very pleased with them. So yay, I get paid for them tomorrow. I would say "Yay! First paid job!" except that I received a paypal payment yesterday for the supplies for a really cool necklace I'm going to be making next week. I also got most of the way through a bracelet commissioned, as well. The theme was "Mediterranean sun", and I'm using gradiated colors of 6/0 matte transparent seed beads in blues and greens, and a few bright topaz Czech glass and miracle beads. It's different from most of the bracelets I've made to date because 6/0s are chunkier than standard rocailles, but it gives it a really fun feel. It should be finished by this weekend, and I'll take a picture then.

The English major in me feels like I should join in the Kurt Vonnegut posts. He was never one of my favorite authors, but I understand why he was so important to American Literature. I liked Cat's Cradle. Anyway, rest in peace, Mr. Vonnegut.

Today's BPAL is Spooky-- minty rum-soaked baked cookie goodness. Super ultra rare, but on a rainy day like today, I can't help but need something both comforting and a little offbeat. Tonight: Bellydance class with Flissy, potentially ice cream, Supernatural, laundry.

And finally, brief BattleStar Galactica thoughts through "Resurrection Ship: Part II". Okay, I know that disproportionally pretty actors tend to get brushed off as eye candy. In most cases, it's warranted. However, there are exceptions to the rule, and I'm not just talking about my burning love for Jensen Ackles. Tricia Helfer is really underrated as Number Six. It's true that most of her interactions with Gaius Baltar are fairly similar in tone, and that can get a little tedious. That said, when she gets the chance to break out of the box of being Mindgames Six, she's freakin' awesome. As hard as it was to watch content-wise, her portrayal of Six/The Pegasus' captive in "Pegasus" through "Resurrection Ship: Part II" was amazing. Her body language was so spot on. This is no dumb blonde ex-supermodel.

Aside from that? HOLY FUCK THIS SHOW IS DARK. Dude, I thought Serenity was dark. No. Just-- no. This show is totally pitch black sometimes.

But the little Adama/Roslin kiss made me all mushy. The end.

I want to get some BSG icons and join a few BSG communities, but being only halfway through S2, I'm being spoilerphobic. Rec me some good ones, please, to join once I'm caught up.
