Organised by the SecOPERA project, this Info Day will highlight the business value of the SecOPERA project showcasing the potential for induistrial players to take advantage of the platform to enhance security and efficiency under real conditions.
The event aims to provide a clear understanding of the project’s goals, objectives, and possibilities for implementation.
Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions, share suggestions, and contribute innovative ideas to help further advance the SecOPERA project.

Dr. George Hatzivasilis
SecOPERA Project Manager, TUC
Dr. George Hatzivasilis holds a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Technical University of Crete and an MBA from Wrexham Glyndwr University, alongside M.Sc. and B.Sc. degrees in Computer Science from the University of Crete. He is certified for Cybersecurity by (ISC)2, for Privacy and Data Protection by Vellum International as GDPR Specialist and DPO, as well as for Management of Information Systems (MIS) by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Currently, he is a post-doctoral researcher and project manager at the Technical University of Crete (TUC) and the Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas (FORTH), contributing to numerous EU-funded cybersecurity projects. His past roles include serving as a researcher, security engineer, and project manager in academia and the private sector. As a lecturer, he has taught courses on information systems security, computer and network security, and digital forensics at various institutions. His research interests span cybersecurity, IoT, AI/ML, blockchain, digital forensics, cyber threat intelligence, and critical infrastructure resilience.

Dr. Apostolos Fournaris
SecOPERA Technical Coordinator, ISI
Dr. Apostolos Fournaris has received his diploma and PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering department of University of Patras, Greece, in 2001 and 2008 respectively. He has worked for the Information and Communication Technologies Lab in Sophia Antipolis Hitachi Europe SAS European R-D Centre for two years and he is currently Principal Researcher in Industrial Systems Institute of Research Center ATHENA. Apostolos Fournaris has a long academic record on research, design and implementation of cryptographic engineering solutions focusing on how to utilize security-by-design approaches from the hardware level, to the firmware and software level on a computing system in order to achieve strong security and trust. He has a total number of more than 70 international peer-reviewed conference publications, most of which are organized or sponsored by IEEE, Springer, EuroMicro, ACM or IACR. Several of them are published in tier 1 (A class) or tier 2 International conferences like IEEE Euro Security and Privacy, IEEE Hardware-Oriented Security and Trust, IACR Cryptographic Hardware and Embedded Systems, IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems etc. He has a total number of 25 Journal publications in international high ranked, peer-reviewed journals (published by IEEE, Elsevier, Taylor and Francis, IACR transactions). He has in total more than 100 research publications including 11 book chapters, 2 Springer LNCS volume Books. He is a member of more than 35 Technical Program Committees, reviewer of more than 30 Journals/Conferences and he has organized 4 International Workshops (general Chair/Program Committee Chair) in collaboration with tier 1/2 Security/Hardware conferences as well as several special sessions. Over the past 5 years he has managed to attract more than 4,5 M Euros from EU research projects, CIPSEC, SMESEC, CONCORDIA, CPSoSaware, ENERMAN, SECURED, SecOPERA, RESCALE to create, fund and lead the Hardware cybersecurity research team in Industrial Systems Institute/Research Center ATHENA, Greece. He is a member of IEEE, IEEE Circuits and Systems society, IEEE Computer society, IACR and the Technical Chamber of Greece.

Christos Kotselidis

Principal investigator
Christos Kotselidis is a Chief Engineer at Pierer Innovation and an Associate Professor at The University of Manchester and. His research interests lie in the areas of managed runtime systems, CPU microarchitecture, compilers, memory management, and heterogeneous hardware acceleration. He is currently leading the Advanced Research team at Pierer Innovation where he researches novel hardware and software solutions for powered-two-wheelers in the areas of high performance and cybersecurity.
