Must be a high school student living in Washington
Project and Submission Requirements:
- The GitHub Repository must be created around 8:30 am
- Materials should be easily set up, as they will take time out of the allotted 5-7 minutes you have to present to judges
Prizes:
- 1st Place: $250
- 2nd Place: $150
- 3rd Place: $100
- Runner Ups: $50

Rubrics will be handed out during the event. Participants will be graded using these rubrics.

Purpose:
The Divergent Teams Hackathon is designed to be a safe, inclusive, and collaborative space where high school students can explore real‑world problems, build creative solutions, and grow as innovators. These guidelines ensure that every participant can learn, create, and compete with respect and integrity.

Respect and Inclusion:
Treat all participants, mentors, judges, and organizers with respect, regardless of background, identity, or experience level.
Harassment of any kind (verbal, physical, digital, or discriminatory) is not tolerated.
Use inclusive language and maintain a welcoming environment for everyone.

Collaboration and Teamwork
Work respectfully within your assigned team and ensure every member has a chance to contribute.
Do not sabotage, interfere with, or disrupt other teams' work or equipment.
Ask for help when needed and support others when appropriate

Integrity and Originality
All work submitted must be created during the hackathon.
Pre-existing code, designs, or assets must be clearly disclosed and allowed by event rules.
Plagiarism, cheating, or misrepresenting work is prohibited.

Use event equipment responsibly and return borrowed items in good condition.
Do not attempt to access restricted systems or engage in harmful digital behavior.
Follow all safety instructions when using hardware, tools, or prototyping materials.

Follow instructions from organizers, mentors, and judges promptly and respectfully.
Be on time for workshops, presentations, and judging sessions.
Maintain a positive, solution-oriented attitude, even under pressure.

Prohibited Behavior
Harassment, bullying, or discrimination
Cheating, plagiarism, or misrepresentation
Tampering with other teams' work
Unsafe or inappropriate use of equipment
Possession or use of alcohol, drugs, or prohibited items
Any behavior that disrupts the event or endangers others

Reporting Issues
Participants should immediately report concerns (including harassment, safety issues, or rule violations) to any organizer or mentor. All reports will be handled respectfully and confidentially.

Consequences for Violations
Depending on severity, consequences may include:
Verbal or written warnings
Removal from specific activities
Disqualification from awards
Removal from the event
Organizers may take other action deemed necessary to maintain a safe and productive environment
