Dr Jonathan Lauderdale is a Research Scientist in the Department of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA.
He is interested in environmental sciences, namely ocean biogeochemistry, global carbon, nutrient, and trace metal cycles, past climates, physical oceanography, and processes occurring in high latitude regions such as the Southern Ocean.
To investigate the mechanisms that the ocean can alter Earth’s climate both in the past and in the Anthropocene he uses theory, different complexity numerical models, and observations of ocean circulation and carbon cycle.
A complete list of his peer-reviewed publications can be found here. His research philosophy has been summarized using the ten-hundred most common words.
