The pattern is available for free to subscribers at the bottom of the page. If you’d rather just print, click the green Print Friendly button under the designer list. If that doesn’t work, try Ctrl + P (or Flower + P) to bring up the printer dialog box.
New Year, New Quilt
But first let’s finish up those UFO’s! Have you been saving all those quilt blocks from #QuiltBlockMania? Or do you have a lot of test blocks floating around your sewing room? I sure do. They are in piles, in drawers, pinned to the wall, or even occasionally made into something like this mask or a pillow.

What else can you do with an orphan block?
- Applique to a hand towel or the back of a shirt, even a hat.
- Center of a braided runner or medallion quilt
- Christmas ornaments
- Cut it up and put it back together in a different way.
- decorate bland grocery bag
- Doll Quilt — or tiny wall quilt/door decoration
- Fabric Postcards
- Frame it as wall decor
- give it to someone else
- Label or pocket on the back of a quilt
- Make it into a sampler quilt, like this Accidental Quilt.
- make a zip pouch
- Make mats for your local animal shelter
- Needle roll or sewing kit
- Pillow covers
- Pincushions/sachets/ricebags
- placemats
- Pockets on a skirt or tote bag – or a Quillow!
- Potholders/Coasters/Hot Pads/Mug Rugs
- Use in a picture frame
- Wrap around a mason jar for decoration
