Inside Bets

The first group of roulette bets to cover are the Inside Bets. They are located in the “inner part” of the roulette table, and they are associated with a higher possible payout but also – a higher risk. You win these bets less frequently, but when you do, the payout is better than the so-called Outside Bets. Here is each type of wager broken down for your convenience:

  • Straight up 1

This is a type of wager that you place on a single number for a total possible payout of 35:1.

  • Split 2

The split bet is a bet between 2 numbers. For example, it can be between 13 and 14. You cover both numbers and have a payout value of 17:1.

  • Street 3

A street bet covers an entire horizontal line, such as 13, 14, and 15. This type of bet pays 11:1.

  • Corner 4

The corner bet is another popular inside bet that pays out 8:1. In this type of bet, you end up covering four different numbers.

  • Basket 5

This type of bet is exclusively available for American Roulette, and it covers the 0, 1, 2, 3, and the 00 that is available in a game of American roulette. The payout value is 6:1.

  • Six Line 6

If you want to cover six lines at the same time and vie for a payout of 5:1, then this “double street” bet is what you are after. Just place it between two rows.

Outside Bets

Outside Bets are arguably the safest bets in a game of roulette you can place. They almost always pay 1:1 And cover a large swathe of numbers from the roulette wheel, helping you to minimize risk and boost your chances for a win.

  • Column 1

A column bet is a wager that you will place on 12 numbers and cover one of three options. There are three preexisting columns to try. Each of these bets covers different numbers. For example, one column can be 2, 5, 8, 11, 14, 17, 20, 23, 26, 29, 32, and 35, while the other two divvy up the rest of the numbers as per the table layout.

  • Dozen 2

A dozen bet is another type of wager you place in the hope of covering one-third of the wheel, or 12 numbers You can bet on the first, second, and third columns, with the respective numbers covered being 1-12, 13-24, and 25-36.

  • Red/Black 3

This type of bet will simply ask you to bet on what you think the winning number would be – would it be a black or red color? There is nothing complicated here. The bet comes with a very high probability of almost 50%, and it will pay the same amount that you have wagered on it!

  • High/Low 4

This is another even-money bet, and what this means is that the wager will pay the exact same amount that you have bet on, and it will also offer you close to 50% of the winning percentage. Just bet on the numbers up to 18 or up to 36.

  • Even/Odd 5

Here, you simply want to decide if the number that comes up as a success will be odd or even. The bet will pay the exact same amount that you have wagered on it, providing it is a success.

Announced Bets

The Announced Bets are an enticing and intriguing concept of roulette. They seem a little chaotic at first glance but have been designed to pick up the pace of play at land-based casinos, and it is great to be familiar with them if you are serious about playing roulette.

Essentially, players will announce their bets before the croupier says, “All bets are off,” but there is no actual need to place physical chips, which is only done afterwards and sorted by the croupier. In online games, announced bets are instead moved by automated software. Land-based and online casinos operate announced bets differently, but there are clear rules for those at either. Here are the types of Announced Bets you can place yourself with a few words to the dealer.

  • Voisins du Zero

With this bet, you will cover all the 17 cells between the numbers 22 and 25 and, as a result, have a 46% chance of succeeding – not a bad bet at all!

  • Tiers du Cylindre

You bet on 12 numbers by clicking on the track and cover “a third of the wheel,” as the bet translates literally. The bets you will make sure to cover with this wager are those located between 27 and 33 in the roulette wheel.

  • Orphelins

The orphans bets will be placed on eight different numbers at the same time, and those include specifically 17, 34, 6, 1, 20, 14, 31, and 9.

  • Jeu Zero

Now for Jeu Zero, you will bet on those numbers that gravitate closely to the 0, and they are fixed as 12, 35, 3, 26, 35, 15, and the zero itself.

  • Neighbours

In this type of Announced Bet, you are backing 34, 25, 17, 6, and 27 to come up as the winning numbers.

Other Bets

With this, we have summarized the main types of roulette wagers there are, but wait on! There are more wagers you may wish to explore, and they are not necessarily as popular per se, but an experienced roulette player would have heard about them. Let’s check them out now!

Snake Bet

This is a very straightforward type of bet. The idea behind it is that you want to cover the roulette table layout like a snake would. It is not necessarily a well-established bet, but it’s still practiced fairly commonly to have made it to our list. The numbers that will appear every time in the snake wager are 1, 5, 9, 12, 14, 16, 19, 23, 27, 30, 32 and 34.

Finals Bet

The finals bet is a type of wager where you want to bet on all the numbers that end in the exact number you have picked to wager on. So, for example, if you are betting on a 3, you also want to cover 13, 23, and 33 - pretty logical, right? This is a riskier bet that has a decent payout but a low probability of turning up on the wheel, so watch out!

Final Split

The Final Split is a bet that you will bet on choosing two specific numbers and then trying to cover all numbers that arise from the two original numbers that you have picked. The best way to achieve this is to bet on 0 and 1 and then place additional splits on 10, 11, 20, 21, and 30, 31. The idea is to cover a bigger area of the roulette wheel. You can try other combinations as well!
