Main roulette bets
Players can make bets in roulette of two main types: the wheel and the table layout. With the table layout, you can place either inside or outside bets. Inside bets envisage choosing numbers from 0, or 00, to 36. You can make a bet on a specific number, for example, zero. Alternatively, you can choose several intersected numbers, for example, a line with two or more numbers. In their turn, outside bets refer to the outside edges of a roulette table. You can place your chips on various named cells, each of them covering various numbers of pockets. For example, so-called even-money bets such as red/black, even/odd and high/low cover 18 pockets, and Column and Dozen bets cover 12 numbers

As you can see, different combinations may potentially cover from one to several numbers. Therefore, various combinations come with different percentages of probabilities. As a result, their payout ratios also differ. They are presented as multipliers that you will apply to your wager, and you will see your potential winning amount.

Another important difference is that certain bets allow several options for placement. In particular, players can choose a Street and also a Zero. These combinations may have the following structure: 0-2-1, 2-3-00, and others. Roulette players call these bets a Trio. In the same way, you can also make bets in European roulette simultaneously on four numbers with different combinations of numbers from 0 to 3.
Announced bets: Explained
In the next step of our guide, we will explore another popular bet type, which relates to a wheel. You can also meet them as Announced or French bets, and this is the same. As you can understand from the name, they come from French roulette, and initially, players simply needed to announce their moves. Today, you place them on online platforms, but the term Announced bets remains unchanged.
With these bets, you cover specific number sequences or segments on the wheel. Such combinations differ from the table layout, and there are several wager types that cover different parts of the roulette wheel: Jeu 0, Voisins du Zero, Tiers du Cylindre and Orphelins.
Players should consider that when they place their wager, a chip will cover a specific area, and it will refer to a particular segment on a table. In addition, the size depends on its type. For example, if you choose to make a Voisins du Zero, you have to use nine chips. Below, we show graphically how specific bets match with combinations.
If you want to make announced bets, you should place them on the Racetrack. It is similar to the roulette wheel, and it has the same number sequence. At the start, you should choose a bet type from the four options we have listed above and place your chip. Then, you place chips on a combo you want to try. Your choice is not limited to only the four above-mentioned options. You can also make bets on numbers that are near to your chips; this bet is called Neighbour. In most cases, they can be from two to nine. In this case, your bet also includes the values of these neighbor numbers. Let’s explore an example. You place a chip on nine. In addition, you want to cover two neighbour numbers. In this case, you place a bet on nine and two chips to the right and two chips to the left. In total, you will have five straight-ups. You should also consider the value of your chips.
Combinations of roulette bets
We have described bet types that are allowed in the most common variations of roulette tables. However, you may decide that you are not ready for some of them. Alternatively, you may choose other combinations. For this review, we have selected several of the most common and popular combinations.
Snake
As you can understand from its name, this combo implies a zig-zag pattern with your wagers. With Snake bets, you will cover twelve numbers, and they offer you a good chance of winning.
Finals en plein
This bet type implies covering all cells that end with the selected number. For example, you can bet on 3, 13, 23, and 33. Alternatively, you may choose bets on 5, 15, 25, and 35. With this type, you have ten possible combinations, and you can use all numbers of your choice from 0 to 9. This combination is very simple, and it perfectly suits beginning gamblers. In addition, it covers more numbers, and you have more chances of winning.
Finals a Cheval
This combination is also called a Final Split. Here, players use split bets in different combinations, but they need to choose two different numbers. For example, you want to try your luck with numbers 3 and 5. Your bets will be 3-5, 13-15, and 23-25, respectively. This combo is also straightforward, and beginners will benefit from it. There are no restrictions regarding bets, and beginners can try all variants that are allowed by a chosen game. At the same time, beginners will appreciate even-money wagers as they cover more numbers, and they are not so risky as, for example, on a single number. They include red or black, even or odd, and high or low. In general, they cover around half of the numbers. As a result, your chances of winning American roulette will be 47.40%, and your chances of winning in European roulette will be even higher, at 48.60%.
Volatility impacts the frequency of winnings. Options with higher volatility offer more rare winnings, but they offer bigger winning amounts. In roulette, when you place a Split or a Straight-Up bet, you get the highest volatility. Splits have a 17:1 payout in general. Therefore, your chances are around 5.40% for European roulette and 5.30% for American roulette. For Straight-Ups, the chances are lower. They offer a 35:1 payout and 2,60% - 2.70% chances.
Similarly to other games, roulette games have minimum and maximum limits. Online casinos set these limits by themselves, and they vary on different platforms. In addition, operators set limits that suit players with different budgets and risk attitudes. Therefore, you can find roulette tables with different limits on one platform. The Basket Bet is a bet that is only available in American Roulette and covers 5 numbers, including 00, 0, 1, 2, and 3. It belongs to the group of inside bets and has 13.20% odds and a payout of 6:1.
The Finales with Splits is a combination of bets that implies placing chips on two numbers with the same endings, such as 1, 11, 21, and 31. This combination is very popular, but not all roulette tables allow it. In particular, you need to choose roulette tables that accept call bets to play with this combination. However, you can place this bet manually or create matching preset bets using the Favorite Bets option.
