The Adventures of Tintin

I just came back from watching The Adventures of Tintin from Spielberg in 3D. All in all, I say it was 3 out of 5. Lots of action, shooting, and fight screens. Snowy the dog came out very bad ass. Tintin was a little too Marysue for my taste, he seem to know everything and came off very action hero. The overly realistic animation kind of took away the charm of Herge's classic Tintin. I would have like a more cartoon look for Tintin. Instead of a Belguim accent, Tintin sounded very British.
is happy, I finally brought Adam Lambert's Glamnation and Christina Aguilera's Keeps Getting Better.
Was at Barnes & Nobles today and found Celebrity on sale for $7.99.

Puss in Boots

Just saw Puss in Boots today with my mom. It rocked, the reviews were on point. My mom is ESL, so it turned out to be a little hard for her to understand, but  the animation was well done that you could follow the story by watching action and what's more you didn't even need to watch Shrek to get the badassness of Puss in Boots.

Antonio Banderas is bit old for me, so never really got why he was consider such a hottie, but the way he worked his vocals for Puss made him seem like a true ladies' man. He sounded sexy and roguish. The script worked well, reminding all of us that every badass is really a mama's boy deep down. And you better be scared of mama.  While Salma Hayek sounded cool, I actually wish she put on more of a sex kitty purr in her voice. I heard her be sexier. The movie rocked without Shrek and Donkey.

Overall, the movie could did great, despite it being part of a franchise that has been done to death, overly cute characters   and heavy star power oriented marketing. A minor goof was when Softpaws breaks out Puss, she throws him his hat, boots, and sword, but not his belt. Yet in the next shot he is wearing his belt. But other than subtle problems like these, it flows well. I would say that the movie was a 3.5-4 out of 5. Story not really original, but got lots of witty lines, subtle sexual content (but than not many are interested in furries) and humor, most of all it showcase Puss in Boots in all its glory.

Just saw In Time

I just saw the new sci-fi Justin Timberlake movie, In Time which did not suck like the reviews said it would. Not saying that it was Tron level good movie. In fact, I thought that they should have actually worked better on their special effects. In a world were genetic engineering has taken the world by storm, we have no flying cars? Also, Johnny Galecki aka Leonard from The Big Bang Theory makes his big screen debut, yet we are more impressed that Olivia Wilde plays Timberlake's mom? Come on, as a sci-fi movie, it should be promoting Galecki who's been making a guest appearance at Comic Con for years. That's where the fans are for sci-fi.

The film itself seems Gattaca wannabe in the era of Occupy Wall Street with a touch of Bonnie and Clyde. Another thing I didn't get for a movie that carry everyone stop aging at 25, why were there so many people over 25 in it. Timberlake's 30, Galecki is 36,Olivia is 27, Bomer is 34, etc... So advance technology, yet all the fashion is a throwback to the past. Although it does have better chase scenes than Gattaca, although for a movie billed for partial nudity there really wasn't that much nudity at all. Timberlake's acting is decent, he still needs to work on his crying. But he plays the white ghetto boy of the TI and Timberband age quite well, as well as a few subtle hints to the mama's boy of *Nsync age. We also get the woman's hater from his 'What goes around age.'Timberlake's mother complex shines through quite clear.

Overall, I would say about 2.5-3 out of five. I probably could have enjoy this movie on the small screen the same way I could on the large. Not sure I would want to see it again.

God, I am such a 12-year-old fangirl at heart.

Lance, what are you up to?

Lance dear, what are you up to? I mean, teaming up with the parody film maker to make this wannabe K-Pop? What are you up to? Is this the green-eye monster showing up after Justin's many successes with Lonely Island?

Greenpeace

Well,  a few years back I posted a entry regarding a bizarro incident with Greenpeace in which they basically brush off my questions regarding what Greenpeace is doing to help end the human trafficking and slavery issues in America. With Greenpeace, I have been made to feel annoyed when I tell them as a starving college student who still lives with her parent, I don't have that much money to donate, but I am willing to sign any petition for support of the environment. It always bothered me that they never let me sign those petitions without me first giving money. I had only two positive experiences, once when I admitted I had no money but the guy shake hands with me anyways, while the other was when a canvasser tried to get me to save tigers but ended up helping me do outreach for a upcoming book sale that I was doing.

Yesterday, I talked with a friend who actually worked for Greenpeace for about a week. Turns out, in exchange for getting insurance benefits and stuff, they have to meet a consider quota of people recruited and that the organizers actually train them to be aggressive salespeople. Odd, since one of the first Greenpeace people I met had did a bit about how as 'nonprofit' they were all benevolent. Nope, turns out the canvassers don't do rallies or protest, instead all they do is stand around campus telling people to donate money to Greenpeace...while I like there ideals, it would be nice if your recruiters didn't treat us like shit for saying 'look I am broke, but willing to help you out with your petitions.'
