“O Quiet Morn”

Quiet Christmas Eve morn,

all is calm with a Summer

sun* shining again!

*(Only in partial jest I note our Wind Chill Factor above 85° Fahrenheit.  In younger days I’d be surfing New Smyrna Beach during the Christmas school break in climes featuring near-90-degree temperatures.  Of course the next week well could see the mercury all huddled at the bottom of its tube in that lonely, cold bubble.)

“Guess Who’s Comin’ Back?”

‘Dry cool week’ comin’ –

fools think Fall finally here!

Summer will be back!

“Fall’s First Friend”

Soon Summer edges

nearer its funeral pyre:

and old and dear friend!

“A Return Of Serve To Bruce Jewett”

Spent a Summer’s Day

by San Francisco’s cold Bay:

Damn near Froze my Jay*!

*(original version in a comment posted to Haiku for Cats by Bruce C. Jewett read: Damn near froze to death! but then I saw the inadvertent end-rhymes and just had to resort to his taunt of JayK**u – ** he called it Jayku and I exercised ediitorshi(struggling not to type ‘t’ here, now)p…)

“Conundrum: Which Wrinkles First, You or Shirtless Sausages?” Tanka 234

Shirtless Sausage sits

on a blistering small grill –

each brief breeze a lie.

The Summer stillness awaits

the mustard of my August!

“In The Dead Of Summer”

Dead Summer: I hear

August barking softly now,

its month-long nap soon!

“Our Two Coasts Sea-Breezes” Tanka 229

Marching from Tampa

cotton dumplings promise rain

if East SeaBreeze comes

In the meantime, martial clouds

beat the tube for show-n-tell!

“Garden Hose Shower On Tap”

I smell of summer

sweaty work with seven shadebreaks

and sunmade iced tea

“My Micro-Climate”

My micro-climate

is fifteen degrees below

two century oaks

“Welcome To My Florida – Outside!”

Soft green June oven

yields soon to Summer’s full

broil and steaming floods!
