Versus: Episode 11

It is yet another late edition of Versus. At one point, I had hoped to do one of these every week. That has not happened in a very long time. Unfortunately, life has gotten in my way……stupid life….

I hope you’ve all missed it. I’m pretty sure you didn’t, but I’ll allow myself to be a little deluded on this one.

The first matchup for today comes from Faithhopechocolate, the ever awesome.

Versus: Episode 10

Are you ready for some fighting between fictional characters (I’ll pause here so everyone can play that scene in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, where Ben Affleck stretches out the words ‘fictional characters’ while trying to explain something to Jay, in their heads. Everyone done? Good. Time to move on)? It’s going to be good. Did you bring your popcorn?

…..you didn’t? Well then, what the hell am I supposed to snack on while writing this? Nevermind. I’ll figure something out.

Anyways, Round One’s matchup is inspired by bardictale. The matchup is actually not one of the two that was submitted, but a combination of one from each of them. Hopefully, bardictale likes this one just as much as the originals.

Versus: Episode 9

In the last episode of Versus (which was a while ago….sorry), I had a matchup of zombie fighters. Since Matticus and I are writing a vampire story, I thought my next matchup should be about vampire fighters.

Obviously, the best vampire fighter is Blade. There’s really no debate there (in my mind, at least). So, then the question becomes: who is second best? Whistler? Not only is he old, he died in two of the Blade movies. His daughter? I’m sorry, but no matter how they edited that movie, I never bought Jessica Biel as an ass-kicker. If that’s all she did was shoot her bow, she might not have been so bad. Her hand-to-hand fighting scenes were awful, though.

Who does that leave (besides Matticus and myself, I mean, as we’re clearly right behind Blade on the badass vampire killing scale)? I’ll tell you. Continue reading

Versus: Episode 6

It’s time for the sixth installment here on Versus. On this episode, I’m going to be doing it a little bit differently. Instead of 2 one-on-one fights, I’m going to be doing one three-way matchup.

One of the reasons that it’s taken me this long to post this matchup is because I’ve been debating this with the other two guys at work for the last week. The other reason is that I’ve been playing a lot of Final Fantasy 7 (I need to find some way to work Cloud and/or Sephiroth into a matchup. Does anyone have any ideas for who they could face off against?).

Normally, when we do one of these at work, it’s a “whoever you think will win” scenario. This time, my team lead made the rule that we each had to pick a different answer. It was then decided that the order in which we got to choose would be based upon how long each of us had been with the company. That meant my team lead went first, the other guy second, and I went last. Continue reading
