Small Town Shorts Film Festival

Submission Guidelines

Renfrew Public Library is thrilled to participate in the upcoming Renfrew County Small Town Shorts Film Festival, in partnership with the Arnprior & Greater Madawaska Public Libraries. The festival will take place at the Arnprior O’Brien Theatre Saturday, May 23rd.

Live Action      (Actors following a script)

Animation / Stop Motion     (Story Telling)

Documentary


Submission Deadline

  • Final Deadline: Friday, May 9, 2026 at 5:00 PM
    (No submission fees)

Preview Rules and Terms

  • Film submissions can be up to 6 minutes in length.
  • Submissions must involve two or more people working on the film.
  • Films must premiere at this event; they cannot have been posted on social media or screened publicly before.
  • AI-generated content is not permitted.
  • Films must be created within Renfrew, Greater Madawaska, Arnprior or surrounding Townships.
  • Films must be suitable for all ages.
  • Films will be selected for screening by a jury based on originality, quality, and adherence to submission guidelines.
  • Submissions must be provided in MP4 format.
  • Submissions must include a fully completed submission form.
  • All films must be the original work of the creators. By submitting your work, you confirm that all necessary rights (story, content, music, images, logos, etc.) are secured, and you accept responsibility for any copyright issues.

Categories

Films will be considered in the following director age groups:

  • Directors aged 12 and under
  • Directors aged 13–17
  • Directors aged 18–64
  • Directors aged 65+

(Note: Films may involve participants of all ages, but the category is based on the age of the director—the individual with main creative control of the project.)


How to Submit

  • Submission forms are available for download HERE or in-person at the Adult Circulation Desk
  • Completed submission forms and films must be sent to info@renfrewlibrary.ca or delivered on USB to RPL’s Adult & Teen Program Coordinator by May 9, 2026 at 5:00 PM.
