Services for patrons with disabilities
Physical Accessibility:
- Library Entries:
Adult Library (2nd Floor):
1. Glass door with push button on Raglan St. S. (leads to stairs).
2. Stairs to the main front door on Railway Ave.
3. Ramp available past the front door by the black drop box has a glass door and push button.
Children’s Library (1st Floor):
1. Glass door with push button on Raglan St. S. (leads to ramp).
2. Front door on Railway Ave. (leads to stairs to the right). - Adult Library service desk is accessible to patrons in a scooter or wheelchair.
- Clearance between stacks and furniture is enough to accommodate a wheelchair or scooter.
- There is a universal washroom for public use on both floors of the library.
Curbside Assistance:
Curbside assistance is provided, call ahead and we will bring your materials out to you.
Homebound Delivery Service:
Are you unable to leave your home due to an illness or medical condition (short term or long term)? Have no other options to receive library materials?
If you reside within the Town of Renfrew, including one of Renfrew’s senior residences or long-term care facilities, we can deliver books (including large print), audio books and/or movies to you!

Accessible Collections:
The library offers materials in a variety of formats to meet the accessibility needs of library users. The library currently offers material in large print, audio, and digital formats to assist users with visual impairments.
Assistive Technology:
- Daisy Readers: an assistive reading device for people with print disabilities.
- C-Pens: a portable, text-to-speech scanner with a human-like digital voice.
- Chromebooks: 10 available to borrow, they are lightweight, compact in size and are very easy to travel with.

Feedback is encouraged and may be given by telephone, in person, in writing, in electronic format, or through other available methods.
