Our school programs are curriculum based with an emphasis on Red Deer’s remarkable history. Each program includes a presentation with artifacts to study, an interactive museum activity, and a hands-on art activity for students to take home.
$150 / 2 hour program

Log School House
Grades 1-5
Experience life in the past with the strict rules of a one-room school house. Learn who the teachers and leaders were, who helped Red Deer’s education system progress from
chalkboards to smartboards.

Guided Exhibit Tours
Have a member of our programs staff bring your group through an interpretive tour of our permanent exhibit Remarkable Red Deer: Stories from the Heart of the Parkland or one of our current temporary exhibits. Guided tours take approximately an hour to complete.
$50 / group

Not able to do a field trip? We can bring the program to you! Have one of our programs staff deliver a history and art program in your classroom. Offered within Red Deer city limits.
$60 program takes approximately 1 hour, includes a history presentation and artifacts
$160 program takes approximately 2 hours, includes a history presentation, artifacts, and art lesson

Mysteries from the Museum
Did you know that we offer an outreach program for seniors’ living facilities? We know that we benefit from learning from our seniors and that maybe, just maybe, they may learn something new from us. Mysteries from the Museum is a monthly program that explores a theme from Red Deer’s past through artifacts from our collections. We get that getting around can be tricky and that there’s value in being in familiar surroundings so we bring the artifacts, share what we know about them, and get the discussion started. Mysteries from the Musem is ideal for seniors who are looking to spur their memory, tell their stories, socialize, and connect with our shared history.
$80 per month, each visit is up to 2 hours
