Embark on an Epic Journey at QDS Hacks 2024! Tech enthusiasts and future business moguls, gear up for the ultimate hackathon adventure! Dive into a world where computing students craft portfolio masterpieces while business leaders fine-tune their pitch skills in front of industry maestros. QDS Hacks is not your ordinary hackathon – it's a chance to connect with sponsors, amplify teamwork, and network with professionals who can kickstart your career.

Requirements

Preliminary Round

Deadline: Your video pitch and project description must be uploaded to DevPost by 10:00 AM on Sunday, March 10.

Teams will have to include their links to their project DevPost, YouTube video, and Github in the "Project Pitches" sheet (will be shared out via email/Discord)

DevPost Submission Requirements:

  • Video pitches must be 3 minutes long (give or take 10 seconds)
  • Include a publicly accessible Youtube link for your video pitch.
  • Your DevPost project description must include a link to your Github
  • Your project description must also include your Problem Statement and Solution

Your video pitch must include:

  • Introduction: Introduce your team.
  • Problem Statement: Clearly define the problem you are addressing.
  • Solution: Present your app idea. Explain how it addresses the problem.
  • Demo: Provide a demonstration of your app in action.

 

Your app does not need to be hosted!

Final Round

  • The Top 8 teams selected by the preliminary judges will move on to the final round.
  • Final judging will take place in-person at SE2 3rd Floor Council Chambers from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

Presentation Guidelines:

 

  • Teams will have up to five minutes to do a live version of their project pitch and demo.
  • The Presentation must include the same sections as the video pitch (Introduction, Problem Statement, Solution, Demo)
  • The whole team must introduce themselves to the judges and briefly share what they did for the project.
  • Otherwise, the rest of the presentation can be done by one team member or split between the group.

Judging Criteria

  • Design
    Is the user experience and design easy to interact with?
  • Quality of Idea and Potential Impact
    How creative is the project? What problem does it solve, and how much value does it create for its end users? What is the possible impact of the processes being disrupted?
  • Implementation
    Is the project well-executed? Does the prototype work? How complete is the final deliverable?
  • Presentation
    How well is the project pitched? Does the demo contain a live walkthrough, is it engaging and creative? How does the demo communicate value?
