Beginners tutorial in python – 1) Introduction

This is the introduction to the introduction. As redundant as that may sound, it’s important to lay down the foundation of what I intent to teach with these tutorial blog posts on python programming. First of all, this will the first series of 3 tutorials on python(Beginners, intermediate, and advanced). So for this first tutorial, I will assume that you are either new to python or haven’t touched it in a while and need a refresher. You can use any operating system and computer you choose to complete these tutorials.

Learning something new requires being able to ask questions and get appropriate responses. I will be watching this blog closely so feel free to leave you questions in the comments of any blog post. I’d like to define what this tutorial won’t teach you and what it will teach. It will not teach you about the history of programming, or about how to use the command line, or even about the origins of python or how it works. It will teach you how to write python code and set you on your way to being an effective programmer. Since this is a beginner’s tutorial, I will try to fill in any details that may not be immediately obvious to someone beginning programming or learning a new language. Let’s get started.
