Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

Pull The Plug is a grassroots organisation supporting collective action and campaigns for systemic change. We use digital tools to share information and connect people.

2. What Data We Collect

We collect as little data as possible, and only for clear purposes:

  • Contact details (such as name and email address) when you sign up to newsletters, events, or campaigns — so we can keep you informed about things you’ve chosen to engage with.
  • Basic technical information (such as IP address and browser type), collected automatically by WordPress, our website host. This helps keep the site secure and functioning properly.
  • Embedded content (for example videos or media from other platforms) may use cookies or tracking tools provided by those platforms. If you’re concerned, we recommend checking their individual privacy policies.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your data.

3. Cookies

Our website uses cookies to:

  • Make the site work properly
  • Understand how people use the site, so we can improve it
  • Display embedded content
  • You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings if you wish.

4. How We Use Your Data

We store and process personal data using a small number of trusted tools that help us organise and communicate effectively. These currently include:

  • Catalyst — used to manage supporter information and organising activities
  • Brevo — used for email communications and newsletters

These services act as data processors on our behalf and are required to comply with UK GDPR and relevant data protection standards.

Access to personal data is limited to Pull The Plug staff and core volunteers who need it to carry out their role. Anyone with access:

  • receives data protection training or guidance
  • agrees to handle data responsibly and confidentially
  • only uses data for agreed organising and communication purposes

We regularly review who has access and remove permissions when they are no longer needed.

We only keep personal data for as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected. This includes keeping contact details while someone remains subscribed or involved in our activities. Data is securely deleted or anonymised when it is no longer required, unless we are legally required to keep it for longer.

5. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the data we hold about you
  • Ask for corrections or deletion
  • Unsubscribe from communications at any time
  • Raise concerns about how your data is used

To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@pulltheplug.uk

6. Protecting Our Community

We treat personal data as something that needs protecting. We will not voluntarily share data with authorities or other institutions seeking to suppress or target people for organising or dissent. If we are legally required to disclose information, we will challenge this where possible and inform affected people when we can.

7. Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy, we’ll make it clear and communicate changes openly.
