What is biogas?
Biogas is a form of renewable energy obtained through the decomposition of organic waste in an oxygen-free environment, a process known as anaerobic digestion. This process involves the action of microorganisms that convert biodegradable materials, such as agricultural, food and urban waste, into a valuable biofuel. Organic waste, such as fruit peels, slurry and sludge from wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs), are examples of raw materials that can be transformed into biogas.
