Education

Our goal is to create meaningful art that broadens acceptance of diversity in its many forms

Propeller Dance education programming specializes in contemporary dance while drawing on other dance styles, and utilizing open and improvisational practices, Propeller Dance offers education programming through weekly dance training programs (that run September-May), professional development opportunities, a mentorship program, and outreach activities. We promote artistic diversity by contracting artists with disability each year as teachers and dancers. Inclusivity and access is at the forefront of our activities, both for our artists and participants. We subsidize classes and programming for those who need it.

Weekly Dance Classes

Propeller Dance provides dance education and training to Children and Adults through on-going dance classes that take place weekly between September and June each year.

Professional Development

Through a range of pro­fessional development activities, Propeller Dance provides opportunities for dancers with and with­out disability to learn from some of the best teachers in inclusive contemporary dance.

School programs through MASC

Propeller Dance is a long time artist with MASC (Muticultural Artists in Schools and Communities), an organization that works to bring the arts to schools and communities in Ottawa. With specialized repertoire, the company reaches children, youth and seniors of all abilities through performances and workshops, showing that we are all able.

Community Programs tailored to you

Propeller offers a range of programming for specialized communities, from a 1-hour workshop with live music to 5-day residencies and long-term outreach/creation projects. Each workshop and/or performance is catered to meet your organization’s needs.
