If you can breathe, you can dance

Class registration is now open for Winter-Spring 2026!

About Us

Our goal is to create meaningful art that broadens acceptance of diversity in its many forms.

Five performers in bright blue costumes pose onstage in a formation. The performer in front wears a small tiara and extends their arms outward. Behind them, a performer in a wheelchair and three standing performers strike expressive poses; two wear large, colorful headpieces. The lighting is cool and even, highlighting the group’s coordinated presentation.

Company

The Propeller Dance Company has been innovating in the field of dance since 2007. As Canada’s second founded dance organization at the intersection of dance and disability, our artists and artworks have astounded audiences and reshaped the landscape of inclusion in dance worldwide.

Education

Propeller Dance started as a diverse inclusive dance class and continues to lead in the field of accessible and inclusive dance education. We believe that ‘if you can breathe, you can dance’ and with a blend of in-person and digital offerings, we are committed to ensuring that we offer barrier-free dance classes for all.

A group of dancers rehearse indoors in a large, industrial-style space. One dancer sits in a wheelchair at center with colorful wheel spokes, while three standing dancers behind and beside them mirror hand and arm gestures. An audience of observers stands in the background. Exposed beams, concrete floors, and a large red sculptural structure frame the scene.

Outreach

Community connection is foundational to Propeller Dance. Through our engagement, audiences become empowered participants. We partner with different organizations to bring high-quality dance performances and educational experiences to different communities and age-groups in the Ottawa-Gatineau region.

Make a difference and support us

Your support will enable us to continue making a huge impact for our dancers, students and the larger community.

A group of dancers perform onstage in coordinated movement. Two dancers at the center, wearing black tops and red skirts, stand with their arms raised while other dancers surround them with reaching gestures. The performers wear matching blue wristbands, and the background is lit in blue. The scene shows an ensemble moment with multiple dancers participating in the choreography.
