pcaSlab 2.0

pcaSlab is a structural engineering software application developed by the Portland Cement Association’s pcaStructurePoint group for the analysis and design of reinforced concrete slab systems and beams. It streamlines code-compliant design per ACI 318 (and optionally CSA A23.3), applying established methods such as the Direct Design Method and the Equivalent Frame Method for two-way systems. Engineers use pcaSlab to design flat plates, flat slabs, slabs with beams or drop panels, ribbed/joist (waffle) systems, and parking and building floor systems, while checking strength and serviceability requirements.

Key capabilities include:

• Automated design of one-way and two-way slabs using DDM and EFM
• Flexural, shear, and punching shear checks around columns and openings
• Serviceability checks, including short- and long-term deflection
• Handling of pattern live loads, multiple load cases, and code-based load combinations
• Modeling of edge conditions, column capitals, and drop panels
• Design strip generation with required reinforcement (bar sizes and spacing)
• Clear calculation reports and design summaries suitable for submittals and review
